The Shockers travel to Norman today to play a DH with Oklahoma starting at 4pm. For those with the right cable/dish connections, the first game is available on FSSW+ and the second game is on Fox College Sports. The games are also on SoonerSports.tv for a fee. Although not listed yet, the links to LiveStats can be found here. The OU web site article for the games is here.
Oklahoma is the reigning WCWS winner and currently leads the Big 12 with a record of 7-0, three-game sweeps of Iowa State and Kansas and a win over Oklahoma State. The Sooners also have wins over Illinois State and Bradley. Their overall record is 28-8. Surprisingly, there are no statistics available on the OU web site - for baseball, yes (so I can see where the tab should be), but for softball, no. I assume this is a coach's decision.
From perusing the box scores, Kelsey Stevens has a record of 20-5 thus far, so she is clearly getting the vast majority of the innings. Shelby Pendley seems to be second in line for duty in the circle. Georgia Casey is one of the names on offense from last year's WCWS. The big name is Lauren Chamberlain who has a chance to set an NCAA career home run record, but she is out with a back injury, last appearing in a game on March 9 and not expected back for another week or so. She has only six homers this year in her twenty-three games, possibly due to Keilani Ricketts graduating and not being in the lineup to protect her.
PaigeL and Cacy continue to lead the Shocker offense. These games may be a learning experience for the pitching staff - for the hitters, too, for that matter.
