So as stated previously, Brianna Jones is transferring, as is Valerierose Agnello and Marissa Preston. Kayla White will be returning. Along with Moriah Dapprich and Jaleesa Chapel. I know it was posted earlier that Kayla was leaving, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The ladies are already pushing hard getting ready for next year. 6:00 am conditioning sessions as well as weights, and their normal basketball practice as well.

Can't imagine why Preston and agnello would be transferring. There was a time during the season Preston and agnello were getting clock and contributing on defense off the bench. They are leaving because they now longer can take the mental abuse from Jody Adams !! And it is not that these 2 are not good players Preston was a Mc Donald nominee and Agnello was a All American Nominee I know 1972 does not see it in Agnello but I would say the voter of award know better them 1972!!! Plus it is hard 2 play when you are scared out of your mind what your coach is going to say or do 2 you!! It is time Wsu wakes up and smells the coffee when u have players leaving in the numbers wsu wbb does maybe it is time to look at the coach and think it is all on the players

Did we forget? 1972ShockerJune 7th, 2009, 08:10 AM
Jody may deserve a "pass" at this time, but her program should continue to be closely monitored by Eric and Becky. A "pass" should not mean to simply ignore the accusations being made. The sheer number of players that have left in of and itself should raise the level of concern, even with the big difference in coaching styles from Jane to Jody.
Clearly, Jody is a much, much tougher taskmaster than Jane. However, if her toughness steps over the line to being abusive and racist then that is not acceptable. Nor is violating NCAA practice restrictions.
I would like to hear what Marcy and Daria would have to say on the matter, although I'm not holding my breath that will happen.
I hope Jody is successful at WSU but while winning is important it needs to be done the right way. There is no doubt that the program needed a dose of toughness and discipline. That can be done without being abusive or racist and without breaking rules.
Jody, at the very least, needs to do a thorough and honest review of her own actions and, if necessary, make the appropriate adjustments in her approach while still binging the extra toughness and discipline the program needs. This is just some of it!!!!Every YEAR IT SEEMS BE SOMETHING!

@playball:, it would help if you would separate your comments from those you are quoting.
I might also add that while I'm not implying what you are saying is incorrect, someone who chooses to only show up after the season and continue to remain anonymous while leveling accusations at the coach has questionable credibility. That's just the nature of message boards.
Based on the circumstances, I'm going to guess you are a family member of one of the transferring players, correct?

The turnover is high because HCJA is NOT well liked or respected by her players. She is mean spirited and doesn't hesitate to degrade her players in front of their teammates and privately. Those who either choose to leave or are forced out are threatened by not being released to D1 schools. Does that sound like a coach that takes the best interest of the player as a person? A coach with high moral character wants to see that person succeed in life, not hold them back out of spite. I understand not wanting to release a student to a competitive conference school. However, refusing to release a student just shows a lack of caring for them as a person due to some type of immature, selfish, thought process I could never respect.
I've personal experience with D1-D3 athletic programs and have relationships with hall of fame coaches. In my experiences, these coaches have a unique ability to develop personal relationships through all types of motivational techniques, none of which involve personal degradation. She may have two championship teams (although this year was a very weak conference) but she'll never be a true champion with her current coaching methods.
It's been rumored she's been unsuccessfully interviewing at various programs, perhaps they've gotten wind of how she treats her players. Anyone with college athletic experience knows how tough coaches can be...that's expected. However, to be tough is far different than to degrade or to demean.

I don't sling accusations around. I know the athletes in the program. This isn't the kind of information one discusses casually so unless you have a intimate relationship with someone, this isn't something one decides to disclose for idle conversation.

The fact you haven't heard about the mental abuse doesn't mean in doesn't go on. My neighbor could may be a child abuser, god forbid, but the last time we had a beer together the topic didn't come up.
