BM: Thanks Coach, we will talk with you Sunday.
it is not a happy camp. The kids are frustrated. The coaches have very high expectations, but I believe only know how to deliver those with anger, they do deliver their expectations in a positive way when winning. The kids need to rally and just play. I remember back in the day playing college ball, just nodding in agreement with our coach and then just turning it loose and playing great. I think it might be different for the women, but I'm an old man and could be way off. I still like this team. Let's go Shox.

I predict we blast SIU, get back in good spirits and then blast MSU at home. Go Shox!!!

Shocks lead SIU 30-20 at the half. Not playing great but better than against Evansville.

Alex is back on her game with 13 points on 5-8 FG's.

Shocks only 1-6 from behind the arc as SIU showing the Shocks a zone as expected. Why would you play anything else.

Michelle is only 1-5 from the field but has grabbed 6 boards.

Michelle carrying the Shocks in the 2nd half but Shocks only leading 46-40 against a very poor SIU team.

Wichita State 55 - SIU 54 with 4:30 remaining. SIU's big sophomore post is chewing us up insided and on the boards.

A lost to a very bad SIU team would be a disaster.

              Final: SIU 64 - WSU 59

Shock season now in official collapse. SIU is a really bad basketball team. To lose to them is almost unimaginable.

This is not only sad but it is embarrassing. SIU was 4-22 (2-13 in Valley Play) coming into this game. I kid you not.

We are the worst team in team in the Valley, and I better not hear the coaches ripping the players. This is all on the coach.

I guess since we just lost to the worst team in the Valley that does make us the worst team in the Valley at least tonight.

No post-game interview with Jody. Not surprising I guess.

The late season breakdowns of Jody's teams is a troublesome trend.

I have to agree mostly - I think the whole staff gets "credit." A team going through a funk is one thing - being unable to adjust to everyone throwing a zone at us is quite another.

We are gonna see 3 straight days of zones at the tourney (if we get that far), and we can't even figure out SIU's. Not to mention I'm not sure the Ladies have the legs to win 3 straight right now with no depth. They look tired, not sure if it's injuries taking a toll, mentally beat down, or a combination of things.
I agree that we have done little to adjust to zones. I see a lot of setting screens for Alex up top but not much else. We know what defense we are gonna see, so we shouldn't be practicing against anything else.

I have to say I am simply stunned with this loss tonight. SIU is just not very good.

It would appear that our long winning streak was largely fool's gold. Now we have lost 4 of our last 5 and seem to be in a downward spiral that is only accelerating.

Jody and staff doesn't appear to have the answers or her players simply don't have the skill sets to supply the answer or perhaps a combination of both. At this point in time any confidence or swagger we had going for us is a distant memory. Kind of a helpless feeling around the team right now.

We'll see what happens next Sunday but I would give the Ladies a few days off and tell them just to totally forget about basketball and see if they can clear their minds a little bit and maybe rest their bodies.

Us fans of Indiana State men's basketball feel your pain! We're in our own usual late season collapse too.

I know they say misery loves company, but somehow that doesn't make me feel any better.

We have some defensive players. We have a few offensive players. We don't have enough players sufficiently skillful to both run a press and attack a zone. Same old story - if we don't generate points with our defense, we are hurting. My untrustworthy opinion.

Michaela Dapprich only played 16 minutes for some reason. I guess she's on Jody's bad side for now although Michaela is one of the few shooters we have capable of knocking down perimeter shots. Michaela hit her only trey attempt of the game. The rest of the team was 1-12 from behind the arc with Alie (1-6) and Jamillah (0-5) responsible for most of that. Kelsey giving us next to nothing on the offensive end. Marissa Preston didn't see the floor.

Shocks were outrebounded 38-26 (15-8 on the Offensive glass) which is another area where the Shocks are not particularly strong.
