Shut it down an re-opened it. Now I've have the current status. Thanks.
Kind of a shame for Sloan. She has pitched very well tonight, but got bit by her old nemesis the big fly.Last edited by 1972Shocker; February 14, 2014, 10:37 PM.

Shocks win it 3-2 in 10 innings. Kelli Spring with the game-winning RBI single in the top of the 10th and Sloan Anderson with perhaps her finest performance as a Shocker. Sloan goes 10 innings after relieving Kaitlyn Malone after she faced only 2 batters in the 1st. Sloan allowed 1 run on 3 hits with only 2 walks in her 10 innings. Very encouraging outing by Sloan.

Shockers 3-2(10) UTSA
Kaitlyn got the start but was pulled after walking the first two batters with an illegal pitch thrown in. She struggled with that issue in the fall, and you have to know she has worked on it over the winter. I thought not getting called for illegal pitches last weekend was a good sign, but she got the quick hook for some reason tonight. Sloan came on in relief and struck out two before giving up a run-scoring single.
The Shocks got the run back in the second on an error, sacrifice, ground out and wild pitch - small ball for sure.
Then the Shockers scored again in the fourth. Paige Luellen reached on a fielder's choice, stole second base and scored on a single by Paige Mason.
In the seventh, the Shocks got runners to second and third with no outs on a walk, bunt single by Melanie Jaegers and stolen base, but could not push a run across. With two outs in the bottom half, Sloan gave up a homer to tie the game. Believe me, I don't even want to go back and see how many times this has happened. :(
Beginning with the eighth inning, the ITB is used. In the bottom of the ninth, the (Road)runner was sacrificed to third, but then was thrown out at the plate on a comebacker to Sloan.
In the top of the tenth, Kelli Spring drove in Ashley Johnson after a sac bunt to give the Shockers the lead. In the bottom half, Sloan got the first out on a popped up bunt before giving up a walk. But a line drive to short and a groundout give the Shockers a hard-fought win.
Sloan scattered three hits over her ten innings, along with two walks and a hit-batter, while striking out six for the win.

Oklahoma State 9-2 Shockers
Kaitlyn got the start, no surprise given Sloan's ten most excellent innings last night. In the first inning, Kaitlyn gave up a single, walk and two-run double. In the bottom half of the inning, Cacy Williams' two-run homer followed a walk to tie the score.
In the Cowgirl second, a walk, error and three singles yielded three more runs. In the fourth inning, they tacked on another run with a hit-batter, error and a couple of ground outs.
In the sixth, the Cowgirls loaded the bases but did not score, and the Shockers created a mild threat with a walk and an error but did not score.
After Oklahoma State opened the seventh with a single and a double, Hunter came on in relief. Kaitlyn gave up eleven hits, four walks and (eventually) seven earned runs along with six strikeouts in her six plus innings. Hunter gave up an infield single, a double and a ground out to score three runs. The Shocks were three up, three down to close out the game.
The Shockers only managed a single in addition to the home run by Cacy and fanned thirteen times against the Cowgirl ace, Simone Freeman, who went the first six innings.

Shockers 3-8 Colorado State
Sloan got the start in this game. She gave up an unearned run in the first: error, single, walk, ground out. Two singles and a sac fly scored another run for the Rams in the fourth.
The Shockers got on the board in the fifth inning. A walk, fielder's choice and triple by Ali Vandever scored the run. Colorado State got the run back in the bottom of the inning with two singles and a double.
In the Ram sixth, a double, error and walk loaded the bases for yet another grand slam homer off Sloan which brought on Hunter to finish the inning. She gave up a walk and single, putting runners at the corners. Then the Rams ran a pickle play to score another run.
The Shocks scored two in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by Paige Mason after a Cacy Williams single.
This game ends the tournament for the Shockers. There are three games later in the day and then two more games tomorrow, all involving the other four teams.
As noted by @Hovpen:, this tournament is a step up, probably several steps up, from last weekend. In the four games, we got five hits, four hits, two hits and four hits. Only a "career" performance from Sloan got us a win. There is much work to be done.

Later scores
Saturday:
Oklahoma State 8-1 Rutgers
UTSA 0-5 Rutgers
Colorado State 5-3 UTSA
Sunday:
Colorado State 6-10 Rutgers
UTSA 0-8(5) Oklahoma State
Tournament records
5-0 Oklahoma State
3-2 Colorado State
3-2 Rutgers
1-3 Shockers
0-5 UTSA
It appears our win over UTSA is not as impressive as first thought. Perhaps Texas is having a down year, or they tried to sneak their #3 pitcher by UTSA.
