  • Shocks @ Loyola and @ Bradley

The Lady Shocks have played only 1 game in the last 3 weeks (the 30-point blow-out of MSU in Springfield). Perhaps that's why they aren't getting much attention. Out of sight, out of mind I suppose.

The Shocks finish up a string of 3 road games to open Valley play as they take on Loyola (5-9, 1-1) on Friday night at 7:00 and Bradley (4-9, 1-1) on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.

These are teams the Shocks should not and can not afford to lose to.

    Shocker Game Notes.

    Go Shocks!

I'm confident we'll sweep. Saw the ladies loading the bus to the airport and Michelle was on crutches. My first thought "NO!!!! She is just resting a very sore ankle and will play. Not even a mention in today's Eagle. This has been strange as we usually get a little pre-game story. Even some of the small high schools get that. Maybe they are down staff. Bottom line, sweep the road trip and we fans will be happy.

Perhaps the flu bug has hit the Eagle staff. One thing that seems to have gone unnoticed is that at 10-2 the Lady Shocks (like the guys) are of to the best start in program history. I will admit that the SOS is no the greatest but, still, this team continues to set program fists and best under Jody's leadership.

I'm still not over the loss to St. Joseph's at home early in the year. The Lady Shocks should really be 11-1 at his point.

That said, the Shocks just need to keep moving forward one step at a time. Hopefully, Michelle is not hobbled too badly as we aren't that deep, especially in the front court.

Kelsey plays without ligaments in one of her ankles after last year's ankle blow out prior to the Valley Tourney. I think the players with the most minutes all have aches and pains, but they are very tough; another testament to Jody's demanding style. I've said this time and time again. this not for the feint of heart as shown by those who have quit or been asked to move on. Those who have stayed are nails. If a brawl ever errupted, I'd put all of my money on the lady Shox.

                Good announcer, good camera work.

Well, video break-up issues for me.

It will be interesting to see a box score to see what the attendance is claimed to be. I think most local high school girls games would have better attendance.

Never a doubt. We are very good.

Were OK. Not sure about very good. We need more than 8 points on 3-14 shooting from Michaela and Alie to be very good.

Alex with another great all-around game. 15 points on 9 shots, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, 3 steals and a partridge in a pear tree in 39 minutes. Jody obviously leaning on Alex in this one.

Jamillah with another big game with 20 points although it took her 18 shots and she was only 3-10 on treys. A team and game high 12 rebounds is most impressive indeed. Shocks won the battle of the boards 37-30.

Neither team was real sharp at the line both shooting just over 60%.

17 turnovers is a little high for the Shocks but they forced 26 turnovers. Not a dominating performance but good enough and road wins are always valuable.

Bradley, a 56-85 loser at home to Missouri State, is up next on Sunday afternoon.

Don't follow the other Valley schools much at all. What's the story on the Ramblers sophomore and leading scorer (for 5 games) Taylor Johnson, their freshman 3rd leading scorer (for 6 games) Tiana Karopulos, junior All-Conference player Simone Law who averaged over 17 ppg last year, and the transfer from Milwaukee who lead them in scoring (I think) 6'4" center Courtney Lindfors.

Seems like Loyola is missing most of their team. Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Yes, very good was a bit overstated. I just like this team and how they play with great confidence. Even if Dap or the bench doesn't contribute like they should, I still have no doubt we'll find a way to win. This is the first team I've seen that can do that. I'm also pleased with our road play. Even if our competition isn't that great, we've found ways to choke on the road in the past and I don't see that now. Though I try, St. Joes is still stuck in my mind. I'm sure it is stuck in Jody's more than any of us. Anyway, looking forward to us heading home with a sweep and my hope is we'll have nice turn-out in our home arena after setting the school record for consecutive wins.

Just based on their play-by-play guy's comments last night during live streaming, they have lost two players to ACL injuries and another to an injury that I don't recall. So, yes, they are not what they expected to be.
