One of the most underrated cinematic indictments of higher education in history.

    And damn funny to boot.

Indiana State over Drake 90-81 in Terre Haute.

Northern Iowa blasts Illinois State 83-63 in Normal.

1st weekend of play seems to confirm that the Lady Shocks and Lady Sycamores are the clear favorites in the Valley, although there is a long way to go yet.

Shocks play 5 of their 1st 7 Valley games on the road finishing that stretch off at pre-season Valley favorite Indiana State on January 27th including games at MSU (successfully dealt with), Loyola, Bradley, Illinois State and Indiana State sandwiched around home games with UNI and Drake.

I also noticed that Indiana State is in the opposite situation. The play 5 of their 1st seven at home sandwiched around road games at Evansville and SIU.

If the Shocks can successfully run this opening salvo of mostly road games and hang with Indiana State they would be in great position schedule-wise over the final 11 games of the season.

Just like the men, Indiana State will be a challenge. Seems after the blackouts of posts, people have lost their steam and don't care to post. I did a very benign reply, no threats or accusations and it was deleted. Hope this sorts itself out and the girls keep kicking some tail end.

Nature will take its course and this will sort itself out one way or the other. At this point most of us, like myself, who are simply fans with no real inside information or contacts can only continue to support the players the best we can and hope this gets resolved, assuming anything needs to get resolved, sooner rather than later. In the meantime, the Lady Shocks definitely need to had serve at home Saturday and Monday against UNI and Drake respectively.

Not sure why the Drake game is in the middle of the afternoon on Monday. That will keep the already sparse attendance at a minimum.

They must have made the assumption many people had it off for MLK day and schools are out so many kids can attend. Our girls just need to focus on hoops and sweep the weekend.

                  .

That makes sense. I have to work Monday so I'll just have to follow on the radio feed.

We demolish UNI. Drake will be the same.

One other comment: All girls played we win by 30+ and we're in first place. Can it be any better.

I don't think there is much debate that this is a down year for WBB in the Valley. Probably much more so than the men. The conference is ranked 18th in RPI among 31 conferences and has 7 teams with RPI's of 164 or higher and the bottom half of the league has an average RPI of 257 with SIU bringing up the rear at an awful 335.

After last night's games I'm beginning to think that some of these teams have decided to mail it in at least until the Valley Tournament and perhaps even for then. The only home team to win last night was the Shocks and I thought Illinois State at least tried hard. The Shocks simply overwhelmed them with their press packages in the 2nd half. The 3 other home teams lost big. Bradley lost by 23 to Drake. Loyola lost by 24 to Northern Iowa. Missouri State lost by 36 to Indiana State. The Bear's fans, once one of the strongest and best WBB fan bases in the country, have to apoplectic as Indiana State was one point short of doubling them up.
