I know nothing as per my MO.

I did take a look at the stats for Brittany Martin, the 6-4 JUCO signee from Northwest Florida State College. Looks like we may have a project on our hands.

Brittany has played in only of 8 NWFS's 14 games and has not started a game.

She is credited with 29 rebounds (14 Off + 15 Def) and has scored 19 points (on 8-13 FG + 3-6 FT) and also has 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. On the negative side she has 7 turnovers and 11 fouls.

Not sure how may minutes she has played. She credited with 24 minutes by I am confident that that is not accurate. Over 14 games you should be accounting for a total of 2,800 minutes played. The NWFS stats shows a total of 531 minutes played that is obviously in error. In looking at some of their box scores it appears that don't always track minutes played. In those games everyone is credited with 1 minute played.

In any case, Brittany may or may not be a contributor at the D-1 level. So far she seems to be getting mostly mop-up minutes against over-matched opponents which doesn't particularly bode well that she will be able to contribute much at the D-1 level. The again you can't teach 6-4.

Quite some time ago I spoke with some of the Shox after Brittany visited; they said she is not 6-4, maybe 6-2 at best. With Kelsey really playing a guard/small forward spot, we really don't have a stout presence inside. To advance further than one round in the NCAA, we must have a big banger.

Agreed, if you mean a big banger with some skills. I think Jody is trying to fill that void, but it appears those kinds of players are few and far between in women's basketball and the big schools seem to have cornered that market. Jody looks like she is willing to roll the dice and hope she can find that needle in the haystack. More likely that will happen with a 4-year player as opposed to a Juco transfer.

Once Michelle Price moves on after this year the Lady Shocks really won't have a post presence of any significance. Kelsey probably will have to move back inside although she really does seem more comfortable on the perimeter facing the basket.

Kelsey said on the radio show she was a guard in high school so prefers facing the basket, but giggled when she tried to describe her position as kind of all over the court. If we keep winning, plus the men giving us much attention and upgrades to the campus, like new dorms, we may be more attractive to a legit center. Happy New Year!

Our ladies are playing good ball right now and really deserve to get more love then they are receiving IMO, the two games we lost helped us to mature and now we are seeing the results of hard work pay of. And that can only help us on the recruiting front. I read somewhere the center for the south high girls team gave us a verbal she is about 6'2 and could give us another big down low although I think she will be a senior next year. Anyway,go lady shox an keep up the good work!

In July 2012 Jody extended scholarship offers 2 South players. At that time Kirea Rogers (Class of 2015) was 2nd team All-City as a freshman in 2011-12. Kendrian Elliott (Class of 2016) had yet to play a high school game. I assume the Ladies probably attended Jody's Elite Camp and made a very good impression on the Shocker Head Coach.

I assume your are referring to Kirea Rogers who will be a senior next year. However, according to Max Preps Kirea is 6-0 but, hopefully, she is still growing.

Kendiran Elliott, who is a sophomore this year, is listed at 6-2 by Max Preps.

Good write up on young Stovall, she is going to develop into a true leader for us down the line. Enjoying the success now and I know it will keep going up from here.
