Coach Chances main objective is to get his players to a four year school where they can get an education and have it partially paid for playing softball to the best of their ability. Last year, they sent nine girls Division I from Butler and three of them were pitchers. It is rare that he does his job well enough that a pitcher he recruits goes D-1 without ever showing up on campus for a practice. From what I understand, Malone would have been No. 3 on Butlers rotation this year so that was probably a good move for her. She was replaced with the Eck girl from Andale who after sitting out a year, decided to move back into the sport. This spring will be interesting, and I wish coaches luck at picking up a pitcher as they will probably have to go the JUCO route to get one that can take them to the next tier of the Valley. All the real good high school pitchers are basically committed down through the junior class.

The fact that Butler wouldn't come play us this year leads me to believe that Chance IS upset with coach B. Obviously coach B believes it was worth it to get Malone. And at this point, like I said before, we would be in big trouble if we didn't have her.
Hovpen, if Malone was going to be Butlers #3 where are they getting these pitchers? Don't jucos usually get the "left overs" that D1 schools pass on?
Also isn't there a catcher at Carol thats good, Bucanon (sp) I think her dad played baseball at KU? Any chance we might get her? Not sure what year she is.

What do you mean Butler wouldn't come play, I don't believe Butler was invited. The Catcher at Carroll is committed to Northern Colorado, Class of 2015. This may be a down year for Butler but they probably still win the Jayhawk. Funny how WSU had a great shot at two Wichita pitchers on Butlers team last year (ended up at Creighton and Arkansas) and didn't want them but took one coming in.
Moose, Looks like coach Chance lost Malone and picked up Eck. I don't think he'll complain about the end result. If it were me, now that's a different story. :)
