The Shockers travel to Tulsa for a single game at 6pm on Tuesday.
Tulsa are the preseason favorite to win Conference USA and have the Preseason Pitcher of the Year in Lacey Middlebrooks as well as three players on the Preseason All-Conference Team. Their current C-USA record is 9-0 with an overall record of 29-7-1. Those results include a win over Indiana State and a loss to Creighton from the Valley and a win over Oklahoma State, our opponent on Wednesday.
Although Middlebrooks has nice numbers this year (ERA of 1.42 and WHIP of 1.20), Aimee Creger has even better, an ERA of 0.86, a WHIP of 0.99 with 160 Ks in 106.1 innings. The two of them have pitched about 85% of the Golden Hurricane innings.
Tulsa have a team OPS of .799 with five players above .795 led by Middlebrooks at 1.108. Their opponent's OPS is .592.
This will be stout competition to say the least.
