There is no doubt Alex and Molly played very poorly in the 1st half. However, some players simply don't respond well to a mega-confrontational, in-your-face motivational and coaching style. Maybe that's in play here and maybe it isn't but the quality of play for both Alex and Molly seems to be on the decline. Of course, some may say if they can't take the heat than they should get out of the kitchen. However, there is really no reason these "motivational" sessions need to take place in a public setting.

I don't know how many saw this Anonymous NCAA Player Survey that @RoyalShock: posted on another thread but check out the question "Which Other Coach Would You Never Play For?".

Notice any commonality of style with those responses.
Just heard Molly has left the team.

Didn't see what you posted, but I'll assume you decided to bite your lip.

I probably should, but won't. Public humiliation will run a lot of players off a team. There are so many others ways to get a point across. Having read a lot of articles regarding the problems at SIU prior to Dana's hiring, this is exactly what I was fearful would happen when I heard of her hiring.

For me, ADES should have suspended Dana from any contact with players for a week or two.

I'm not surprised in the least, but I think Pandora's box may have been opened. I know our new University President will not tolerate this kind of non-sense. I played before the electronic age and anything goes in the press or I'm sure my revered coach may have been under greater scrutiny especially with "Donors" and players, but he never would have tolerated this. We were disciplined hard in practice, never in public.

There is a difference between doling out tough love and doling out mean-spirited humiliation. If the kids know that when push comes to shove a coach has their back and will fight for them they are willing to absorb the tough love discipline. If a player doesn't believe a coach really cares about them then the battle is pretty much lost.

Despite the fact that @oldtimewomen's hoopcoach usually has rock solid information I will, out of respect for Molly, defer any specific comment on her departure until that is publicly confirmed.

I'm curious to see what happens as reports say she was suspended for violating team rules. I know in some cases it was months before it was officially announced players had left program after they had. Interested to see what, if any, last Tuesdays game had to do with this happening. If Molly has indeed left the team after being suspended, or left the team but the media was told she had been suspended first.

Are those published reports or grapevine reports. If published could you provide links or direct me to those reports. Thanks.

Glad u found it as I'm not sure how to post links from mobile. Jenn Bates posted it on Facebook about the same time OTWHC said here that she had quit.

Pandora's box has been opened. Lot's more to this and other players who have left or forced to leave, coaches covering for themselves, etc. This just saddens me and it shouldn't be happening.

My emotions did jump out on this one. Molly could have messed up big time, but my typically reliable sources state otherwise.

I can certainly see the possibility that Molly did in fact break team rules following the Grambling State game. Whether she really cares or not at this point would seem be the key point. Whether or not Molly will or will not be a member of this team going forward is not particularly that important. Perhaps it is actually in Molly's best interest if she did move to a situation that better suits her. However, the way this has unfolded and the way it has been handled is perhaps an area of some concern. It is really difficult to really know what to make of it without knowing all the facts and circumstances which may or may not see the light of day. At a minimum this situation is somewhat unsettling.

Time for Jody to go. Situations like this have become all to common for her and her choice of staff. It appears to me that the problem very well is with the staff at least as much as it is with the players.

It would be a piece of cake to recruit against the Shox, and they will continue to not get local girls because of this type of behavior.

IMHO the timing of the suspension is key and is strikingly odd. She played in the Grambling game, so if she had done anything prior, she should have been suspended or, at least, benched for that game. Whatever she may have done after that halftime display by Dana, may have been directly due to the public humiliation. If this is the case, I would think that reporting to the press of her suspension is lame and frankly, potentionally in bad taste. Left the team for personal reasons might have been better. We'll see.....maybe.

I don't recall Johnnie making comments in my short history, but if he is, this will go far. I heard from one of the girls this has gone viral on Twitter. I don't tweet and viral had a different meaning in my 60's days. Wow!! I sure was a happy camper this summer. I just popped into Koch arena one day in my travels and liked what I saw in the Shox men big time, and women for great potential. I've stuck with the women, but this is getting tiresome. Do our A.D's deal with this?
