I realize the guy had a very rough year last year and was fired, but what am I missing:

    · Two-Time Big 12 Coach of the Year (2016, 2021)
    · Six NCAA Championship appearances
    · One WNIT title
    · Seven Cowgirls have achieved All-America status under his direction
    · Two Cowgirls have been named Academic All-Americans on his watch
    · Coached OSU’s First-Ever Big 12 Player of the Year in 2016 (Brittney Martin)
    · Produced the 2021 WBCA Defensive Player of the Year and 2021 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year (Natasha Mack)
    · Five WNBA Draft Picks (Toni Young, Tiffany Bias, Brittney Martin, Loryn Goodwin, Natasha Mack)
    · 15 All-Big 12 selections and 44 Academic All-Big 12 picks

    And he's the assistant??

He's 66 and this may be his way of easing into retirement

Here is the announcement from goShockers.com: https://goshockers.com/news/2022/4/2...m-littell.aspx

Now that is pretty impressive hire depending on how motivated Jim is at age 66 after spending the last 17 years including the last 11 as the head coach at Oklahoma State.

Keitha's relationship with Jim goes way back and she has talked about him numerous times as a mentor and someone she looks up to.

Jim's departure from OSU was reported as mutual but I believe Jim was pushed out after by far his worst season at OSU last year going 9-20 overall and 3-15 in Big XII play. Also, after making the NCAA in 5 years and the WNIT in 2 years (winning the WNIT in his 1st year) Jim's Cowgirl teams have only made the post-season in 1 of the last 4 years losing in the NCAA 2nd round 2 years ago.

In any case, welcome aboard Coach Littell.

Not sure what he will be able to do for the Shocks, but having someone of his pedigree assisting HCKA and the team seems like a very positive move.

Been meaning to look to see who Jim Littell replaced on the WBB coaching staff and that would be Chester Nichols. Chester has moved to Southern Illinois where he will be Associate Head Coach.

Keitha was extended 2 years through June 30, 2024 back in 2019. So two more seasons.
