  • Shocker SB at Oklahoma State

The Shockers play a single game in Stillwater on Tuesday with a 7pm start time. The Cowgirls are 12-9 on the season against good competition. In games against common opponents, they have shutout North Texas and Sam Houston State, split with Iowa and edged Loyola in extras.

O-State was a participant in last year's WCWS and was a pre-season pick for sixth of the nine teams playing softball in the Big 12. Though ranked earlier in the season, the Cowgirls are currently unranked.

    This game is on GT.

I don't follow the SB team very much, but I remember reading a few years back about some pitcher named Kolb from OK who threw perfect games and such. What happened to her? She didn't graduate already did she? If so, that just shows you how much I pay attention.

Kasha Kolb pitched in 2009 and 2010 and was probably better than any of our current pitching staff. She had a 2.27 ERA her sophomore year although I don't think she ever lived up to the hype from her high school career. However, I think she would have been a very effective MVC pitcher if she had stayed with it.

She left the program after her sophomore year and I believe she gave up softball due to personal reasons.

There are no probablies about it - she was head and shoulders above anyone on the current staff. IMO, of course.

As may have been discussed before, high school careers in small-town schools do not have strong predictive value. You may tear up small schools in southeastern Kansas and not be able to get anybody out at Emporia State. It is really summer ball, travel ball, where you are playing consistently better competition than high school ball, that D-I coaches are scouting. KK was the #2 pitcher for the Tulsa Eagles, the #1 being Hillary Bach of Arizona State.

NOTE: She and Natalie Rose of Missouri State battled in out in the championship game of their class in their senior seasons. KK drove in the winning run in extras.

Sloan is in the circle for this one. Layne is at 2B, and Rachel is the CF. We are probably getting OSU's #2, but I don't think there is much drop-off from #1.

A lead-off triple for the Cowgirls is followed by a sac fly.

Shockers 0-1 Oklahoma State, after two.

Sloan has retired eight in a row. Brianne singled in the third for our only hit thus far.

Shelby Davis from Goddard is in RF for the Cowgirls.

Shockers 0-1 Oklahoma State, after three.

Very nice work by Sloan to work around a walk and and error in the 4th that put runners on 1st and 3rd with one out.

Induces a pop out to 1st and and a foul pop to the catcher to escape unscathed.

No runs in the fourth, Sloan surviving a walk and an error by getting two pop-ups with a runner on third.

Shockers 0-1 Oklahoma State, after four.

Espinosa, the #1 for the Cowgirls, comes on to start the fifth.

Rachel doubled with one out, stole third and Sydney drove her home with a single to tie the game. O-State gets a lead-off single and a sac bunt but can move the runner no further.

Shocker 1-1 Oklahoma State, after six.

We won this game last year, 4-2.

Shocks tie it up in the 6th on a 1 out double by Rachel Milnark who promptly stole 3rd and the scored on Sydnye Steuver's RBI single.

Sloan works around a leadoff single by OSU in the bottom of the inning to preserve the tie. Goint to the 7th.

A lead-off single and a one-out sac bunt for the Cowgirls, but Sloan gets the last out.
