I think the the list of NCAA D-1 softball players that have 10+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases this year is quite short. In fact, I believe it is a list of 1.

Sydney extends her hitting streak to 15 games. Unfortunately, she was only 1 for 3 on the day dropping her average from .522 to .514. On the other hand Sydney walked twice which is a rarity for her since she doesn't need the ball in the strike zone to hit. In her first previous 18 games she had only walked 3 times.

Lauren Lucas has been a very pleasant surprise this season. She has really made the most of her chance to play after playing only sparingly last year.

Zoe Jones has been a very nice addition to the roster as well. Her .397 average looks pretty good sitting behind Addison in the lineup.

Neleigh is not hitting up to her capabilities so far but, unlike Sydney, Neleigh walks a lot and her OB% is quite good. Neleigh has walked 21 times and been hit by pitches 2 times through 20 games.

Wylie has been pretty productive this year in mostly a backup role with a spot start here and there. Has done a nice job filling in for Bailey Urban.

Doubtful everyone will be able to maintain the torrid starts but let's just hope against any extended slumps and perhaps get a couple other playing cooking a little better.

The pitching doesn't seem to be as much of a concern when the Shock put 14 runs on the board. Of course, we know that won't be a regular occurrence either (well at least I don't expect that will be the case).

      The Shocks are

In 10 at bats for far in the tournament they have put up crooked numbers in 8 innings scoring a total of 32 runs. You don't do that without contributions form up and down the order.

Neleigh hammers a three-run homer and Krystin has an RBI single, driving in Lauren who had doubled, in the Shocker first. The Jayhawks score on a walk and double. 4-1 after one.

Addison singles in the second but is caught stealing. Three singles and KU is on the board in the second with one out. Erin is on for Kenzie. She gets a fly out that becomes a DP as Lauren throws out the runner trying to score from third. 4-2 after two.

Neleigh's leadoff single leads to nothing in the third for the Shocks. Kansas gets a one-out double and outfield throwing error to put a runner at third, but Erin gets a strikeout and groundout to end the inning. Remains 4-2.

Lainee singles but is forced out by Wylie. Singles by Sydney and Addison load the bases for the Shocks. Zoe then walks to score one, and KU changes pitchers. A passed ball scores another run. Neleigh walks to reload the bases, but a ground out force at the plate and line drive out end the inning. 6-2 in the middle of the fourth.

A leadoff double for the Jayhawks but no runs. 6-2 after four.

A hit batter of Lainee, single by Sydney, and hit batter of Addison load the bases with two outs in the fifth, but Zoe fans. A single and, two outs later, a hit batter create a threat for KU, but a groundout ends the inning. 6-2 after five.

In the sixth, Lauren has a one-out triple, but no one can get her home. A one-out single and nothing more for the Jayhawks. 6-2 after six.

Lainee and Bailey single to start the seventh. With two outs, Zoe singles home a run, and after Neleigh walks to load the bases, Lauren singles home two more. 9-2 in the middle of the seventh.

A one out double for KU, but Erin gets the next two batters including a game-ending strikeout.

        Shockers 9-2 Kansas

A very nice tournament for the Shocks - very nice hitting and better pitching than what we have seen recently.

Erin pitched 5.2 scoreless innings in relief - five hits, no walks, and five strikeouts.

Fifteen hits for the Shocks: three by Lauren and two each for Sydney, Addison, Zoe, Neleigh, and Lainee. Neleigh had the only homer.

A nice finish to a nice couple of days for the Shocks.

Erin did a good job of competing today. She wasn't dominate, generally not her game, but she spread 5 hits out, struck out 5, walked none but did hit a batter in 5.2 innings of relief. That's about as good as we can expect out of Erin I think and more than good enough in this game.

Hope the Shocks can keep the offense going. Despite scoring 9 runs in this game the Shocks left 12 runners on base, 8 in scoring position. So they didn't miss a 3rd straight double figure scoring game by much.

A very productive day for Lauren Lucas with 7 RBI in the 2 games today.
