A new pitcher is in the circle for the Roadrunners as the Shocks come to bat in the fifth. A walk to Addison, single by Butters, and a ground out put runners in scoring position with one out. Ryleigh's ground ball scores Addison for another run. The Shocker lead is now 3-1 after five.

UTSA begins their sixth with a walk and sac bunt, but Bailey fans the next two batters. Not much going for the Shocks - just a two-out hit batter. 3-1 Shocks as we head to the seventh.

Foul out to Butters, a comebacker to Bailey, but then a single for UTSA. The next pitch is a fly out to Bailee in center to end the game.

    UTSA 1-3 Shockers

Shocks have only five singles with two of them by Bailee. Bailey gives up seven hits and five walks in the win and strikes out ten.

Not much offense for the Shocks in this one. Credit to the UTSA pitchers? Probably. Those 2-out, 2-run infield singles are becoming a valuable weapon (just goes to show you why it's important to put the ball in play).

In any case, it was enough for BaileyL in what I guess you would call a lunch pail effort. 7 hits and 5 walks on the one hand but 10 K's on the other hand. Bottom line only 1 UTSA run crossed the plate.

I suspect we will see one of OSU's top 2 arms this afternoon and that the Shocks will counter with Erin McDonald to start the game. We'll see. I am often wrong with these guesses.

UTSA takes a 1-0 lead over KC to the bottom of the sixth and the coach changes to another of her seven pitchers. Bad idea. Four runs later, the starting pitcher re-enters to get the last out of the sixth and KC wins 4-1 after a scoreless top of the seventh.

          Game Five

          Shockers at Oklahoma State

Stumbled across a link to LiveStats for OSU events on StatBroadcast, not Sidearm. Maybe what is going on will be easier to navigate.

The setup for teams played in this Classic is interesting. Okie State wants to play for the highest RPI result. Thus, they play the Shocks and Kansas City twice and UTSA only once. Consequently, the Shocks and KC only play each other once and UTSA twice.

Caitlin has the start for the Shockers with the same lineup as earlier today. Carrie Eberle, one of their top two starters, is in the circle for Oklahoma State.

Three ground outs in the Shocker first. Sounds like a really nice drop ball. Three up and three down for the Cowgirls. 0-0 as we go to the second.

Neleigh leads off the second with an infield single that is changed to an error. She advances on a sac bunt and ground out but is stranded at third.

Single, single, and sac bunt to start the Oklahoma State second, and they have runners in scoring position.

This game is on ESPN+ if you can stand the bias of the OSU announcers.

The right field sprinkler systems just went off.

Great pitch by Caitlyn to get the inning ending strikeout. Caitlyn did some major work on her changeup in the offseason. She is throwing it very well and effectively.

A comebacker and strike out and Caitlin is out of the jam in the second. Scoreless after two.

Kaylee has a leadoff single in the third and advances to second on a wild pitch with two outs. Addison draws a ten-pitch walk, but Butters grounds out.

A single and a home run and the Cowgirls are on the board in the third with one out. They get a single later in the inning but no more runs. Okie State 2-0 after three.

Three up, three down including two Ks in the Shocker fourth. Caitlin gets three ground outs. 2-0 after four.

Camryn is caught stealing to end the fifth after her leadoff walk is followed by two strikeouts. With two outs, single, walk, and a three-run homer for the Cowgirls. Erin is on to pitch. She gets a strikeout to end the inning. 5-0 OSU after five.

Butters has a two-out infield single in the sixth, and Neleigh follows with a double down the left field line. Ryleigh follows with a double in the opposite direction to score two runs. Hmm. Scoring on Butters single has been changed to an error. Not going to let the ERA for their pitcher get too high.

Erin retires three straight in the bottom half.

Jessica Garcia gets a two-out walk as a pinch-hitter in the seventh, but Sydney grounds out to end the game.

                Shockers 2-5 Oklahoma State

Caitlin gave up seven hits and a walk in her 4.2. She struck out one. Neleigh had a double and single among the four hits by the Shocks. A double by Ryleigh drove in the two runs.

All-in-all a pretty good weekend for the Shocks and a good warm up for AAC beginning with a 4-game series at home vs ECU next Friday, Saturday (2) and Sunday.

Caitlyn wasn't really too bad in the circle today. Made a couple of mistakes that OSU hit out of the bark but the Shocks did not just wilt and go away. Eberle is a really tough, experienced pitcher, especially with that hard drop of hers.

After disposing of the Shocks 5-2 this afternoon OSU completed their day of revenge with a 13-0 Five inning run rule dismantling of Kansas City this evening.

The Shocks finished the tournament at 4-1. OSU is 3-2, KC is 2-2 and UTSA is 0-4. KC and UTSA play tomorrow.
