Championship teams will find a way to win, even on a poor shooting night. Good team effort, good bench effort on boards and defense. Lets have a better game Saturday!!! 6-0 in the Valley is very good!!!!

Still early, but an Indiana State loss tomorrow to Creighton will give WSU a 2 game lead six games in.

Keep working hard. Don't let up!

I think we have to play a better game Saturday to win. SIU will be flying high after their 78-72 win over MSU tonight to break a 24-game losing streak in MVC regular season games. Not sure how long we can continuing winning scoring in the 50's. One of these days that will catch up to us. Nevertheless the Shocks have struggled mightily on the road in the last decade and any road win is a good road win.

The Salukis hit a higher percentage on their treys 57.9% than the 13-25 (52%) they made from the line. If the Salukis can duplicate that 3-point shooting against the Shocks on Saturday it will be very tough for the Shocks to pull out a win.

Creighton is playing at Indiana State. My guess is Indiana State will win that game. Regardless of the outcome you are right about the Shocks needing to work hard and not let up. If they are going to do this it will be by out-toughing and out-hustling the opposition from start to finish.

Jessica Diamond having an All-MVC type of year so far. Has been the Shocks most consistent player this year IMHO.

                Tonight's line 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-4 FT), 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks in 35 minutes.

Jessie with her best Toure Murry impersonation chipped in 8 points (2-3 FG, 4-4 FT) and 2 steals in the final 3:10 of the game after Evansville had rallied from a 10 point deficit to pull within 1 at 45-44.

Haleigh struggled offensively tonight hitting only 1-7 from the field but I have a feeling she will come back strong against SIU. We will need a good game from Haleigh on both sides of the ball Saturday.

Only 8 assists for the Shocks tonight. Again not sure how much the new offense contributed to this and how much was due to the Shocks just not finishing offensively. The Shocks did knock down 16-22 from the line including 12-15 in the second half which is a pretty solid performance although 2 of the misses were front end of one and one's. Jaz and Jessie did knock down 6 consecutive charity shots at the end of the game.

Freshmen Krystle Henderson and Alex Harden both played pretty well during the their 20 minutes of PT each. Krystle was 3-4 (including 2-3 on treys) for 8 points and had 2 assists with no turnovers plus a block and 2 steals. Alex added six points on 3-8 shooting, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and did not turn the ball over. Freshman Kelsey Jacobs was 0-3 shooting in her 6 minutes but did grab 4 rebounds. Glad to see the frosh getting some productive minutes. We need to build and improve our depth.

Creighton jumped out to a 9-2 lead at Indiana State, but the Sycamores charged back to take a 36-27 lead at the half.

Stat of the half: Creighton 1-2 from the FT Line; Indiana State 14-17 from the line. Ouch!

Update: Good news. Creighton roars back to win the game 64-62 on a basket by Carli Tritz with 3 seconds remaining. Creighton was down 10 with 6 minutes remaining in the game.

Creighton (9-8, 3-3) overcame a huge discrepancy at the FT line as they were 2-3 vs 20-27 for Indiana State (10-8, 4-2).

Must have been a pretty sloppy game as the two teams combined for 42 turnovers (21 each).

                  UNI (12-6, 5-2) holds serve with a 71-57 home win over Bradley (11-8, 2-5).

Illinois State (9-8, 4-2) hangs on for a 71-67 OT win at home over Drake (9-8, 3-3).

Ok the Shocks recieved a nice gift from Creighton tonight who handed Indiana State their 2nd loss in MVC play. This gives the Lady Shocks THE OPPORTUNITY to move 2 games clear of the rest of the league in the loss column.

SIU showed they are more than capable of beating the Shocks with their 78-72 win over Missouri State last night.

5'9" Jr G Teri Oliver went off on the Bears last night scoring 28 points on 10-13 from the field including 7-8 from 3-point range. On the season Oliver averages about 8.5 trey attempts per game and is making then at a 39% clip and is averaging 17.7 PPG.

5'6" Fr G Cartaesha Macklin is averaging 15.7 PPG. She score 14 points against MSU but took 14 shots and 7 FT attempts to do it. She leads SIU in assists with 68 but also has 93 turnovers. Against MSU she had 9 assists and 9 turnovers. Hopefully, the Shocker pressure defense will be able to rattle her. She doesn't take a lot of treys and is shooting 35.6% from the field.

No one else averages more than 5.6 PPG for SIU on the Season. 6'1" Fr C Alexus Patterson did have a double-double against MSU with 11 points and 11 boards in 32 minutes. 5'11" So G Antishia Wright chipped in 13 points against MSU in 26 minutes and 6'3" So C CiCi Shannon chipped in 9 points on 4-4 FG's in 18 minutes of play.

SIU is young with only 1 senior on their roster, 6'1" F Charnise Mitchell, who played 13 minutes against MSU but did not score. Oliver is their only junior. The win against MSU no doubt has given the young Salukis a big confidence boost.

SIU will turn the ball over. They are averaging 19.7 turnovers per game and turned it over 23 times against MSU. Shocks need to really get after them on defense and keep track of Teri Oliver on the perimeter.

SIU is not a great FT shooting team at 65.5% on the year. They are athletic, however, and the Shocks will need to do a good job on the boards to keep the rebounding even.

Hopefully, the Shocks will have a better offensive game than they have had in the last two games (53 vs MSU and 57 vs Evansville).

Let's grab this OPPORTUNITY Ladies while we have the chance.

We need strong mistake free bench play so we always have fresh legs for good pressure defense. Haleigh needs to have a Haleigh game; attack the rim, run the floor, get steals. When we return to Koch 7-0 in the Valley, we might hit the 3000 attendance mark. Last game was much improved and much louder.

I certainly hope we come back home at 7-0 in the league but I don't think that is a slam dunk by any means. I am particularly concerned about our difficulty in putting points on the board. Not sure how long we can get continue to win if we only score in the mid to low 50's as we have over the last two games.

General admission tickets for Illinois State next Friday are only $4 if purchased in advance (not sure what "in advance" entails). Still I'm not expecting anywhere close to the 2,500 we drew for Missouri State on a highly promoted freebie night. BTW, like the MSU game the Illinois State game will also be televised on KS22. I think we will be doing well to put 1,200 in the stands (as opposed to announced paid attendance) for Illlinois State. Still that is a nice step up to what the Ladies having been drawing to their games.

Lady Shocks lead SIU 34-27 at the half in what would best be described as an uneven performance.

Shocks jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the 1st 3 minutes then SIU pulled back to within 1 at 15-14. The Shocks scored only 13 points over the next 13 minutes before scoring 9 points in the final 3:45 to close out the half.

Shocks are outshooting SIU 48.3% to 28.1% but SIU is 5-8 (62.5%) on treys and that has kept them in the game.

Also the Shocks have left a bunch of points at the FT line hitting only 6-12 in the half vs 4-4 for SIU. Shocks are also getting outrebounded 24-18 and SIU has 12 offensive rebounds.

Chynna with 13 points to lead the Shocks. Chynna is 6-8 from the floor but only 1-4 from the line. Haleigh got off to a slow start but finished the half with 8 points including a 15 foot jumper at the buzzer to close out the half.

Shocks have forced 13 turnovers but they have turned it over 9 times themselves. Shocks have scored half their points off of turnovers.

I'll take a duplicate of the 1st half in the final 20 minutes although I think we are capable of playing better.

Shocks hang on to prevail 78-68 in a game that was much closer than the final score might indicate.

Shocks go to 7-0 in league play and have now won 10 in row to tie the 1999-2000 Lady Shockers for the longest winning street in school history.

                              Congratulations Ladies.

The bench did what I hoped for; some decent minutes to keep fresh legs, not much scoring, good shot selection, but Kelsey and Alex just didn't finish. Chynna was a beast, Jessie had some moments where she really struggled. Nice looking team. Let's sweep the first half of the Valley at home next week!!
