  • XC Regionals on Saturday

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State's men's and women's cross country teams travel to compete Saturday in the 2011 NCAA Midwest Regional in DeKalb, Ill.

Sounds like Aliphine Tuliamuk will be the favorite. Team wise the Shocks are ranked 11th going in.

Congratulations to Aliphine for he very solid win at the NCAA Midwest Regional winning the 6K race in a time of 20:40.68 which was more than 12 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. Aliphine moves on to the NCAA National Championship.

As a team the Shockers finished in 12th place.

Yes, it was a great race for Aliphine at Dekalb this past weekend. I'm assuming that will secure her the Regional Athlete of the Year Award and make her a finalist for the NCAA Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Hey just in case anyone in Wichita isn't paying attention ---- WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST ATHLETES IN THE NATION ON OUR CAMPUS!

The NCAA race should be exciting and if you have ever watched Aliphine run in previous NCAA races, whether cross country or track, she will probably be running up front for as long as she can.

Here is a nice interview with her after the race: http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/240...dwest-Regional
