It will be interesting to see if we see Bailey Lange this weekend. Probably don't really need her against this level of competition but we'll see. Still have seen are heard anything regarding Bailey's status.

The Lady Shocks downed Abilene Christian this afternoon by an 8-1 score.

Erin McDonald continues to pitch well, at least against the softer touches on the schedule as she went the distance allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. She also didn't let 2 Shocker errors hurt her. The Shockers were the home team in this one.

The Shockers dented the scoreboard 1st with a lead off double from Madison "Butters" Perrigan who came into score on an error by the ACU 1st baseman. After an infield single by Bailee Nickerson and a walk to Ryleigh Buck the Shockeers had the bases laoded, a run in and no outs. However, Wylie Glover lined out to 3rd and Sydney McKinney grounded into a 3rd base to c double play. I assume Bailee was forced at 3rd on the play and Asea Webber was thrown out at home trying to score from 3rd..

In the top of the 3rd ACU loaded the bases with no outs on a single to right, an infield single to 3rd and an error on Ryleigh at 3rd. A fly ball to center scored the ACU run. Erin got out of the inning on a strike out and a ground out to 3rd. At that point the score was tied 1-1 with both teams having missed golden opportunities to put up a crooked number.

The Shocks put the game away in the 4th, 5th and 6th inninngs scoring 2, 3, and 2 runs.

In the 4th Butters had her 2nd lead off double of the game and after 2 ground ball outs Ryleigh homered down the left field line making up for her 3rd inning error.

In the 5th Lauren Mills doubled to left center with 2 outs. Butters followed with a homer to left. Asea and Bailee followed with back-to-back doubles to produce the 3rd run of the inning.

In the 6th Laurie Derrico doubled to center with 1 out. Neleigh Herring singled to right scoring Laurie with Neleigh taking 2nd on the throw to the plate. Lauren singled to shortstop and Neleigh scored all the way from 2nd to close out the Shocker scoring.

The Lady Shocks take on host UTA in Game 2 in Arlington.

The Lady Shocks put up a 3-spot in the 1st inning. Sydney McKinney opens the game with a bunt single. Laurie Derrico bunts her over to 2nd. Lauren Mills walks and Madison "Butters" Perigan continues her big day with a 3-run homer to left field.

Caitlyn Bingham is in the circle for the Shocks and sets UTA down in order in the bottom of the 1st.

A lead off double followed by a single plates a run for UTA in the bottom of the 2nd. A walks and a sac bunt puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. A ground out and a strike out gets Caitlyn out of the inning with no further damage. Shocks lead 3-1 after 2.

Pitchers pretty much in control over the last 5 innings. Caitlyn makes the 3-run big fly by Butters in the 1st stand up and the Shocks get a 3-1 win.

Caitlyn went the distance allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strike outs.

The Shocks extend their winning streak to 8 games.

Hopefully, the bats will re-awaken tomorrow.

In the 2 Saturday games Butters went 5-6, with 2 home runs, 2 doubles and 5 RBI and 3 RBI. Her only out was a line drive to short and she left 0 runners on base. Pretty nice day for the Shocker junior catcher out of Mustang, Oklahoma as she collected her 100th hit as a Shocker.

          Game 3 - Prairie View A&M (7-6)

Erin McDonald gets the start for the Shocks. Shock are the home team in this one.

Erin picked up a strike out to lead off the game but PV but the next two runners on with bunt singles. Erin followed with 2 more strike outs. The Shocks went down in order in their half of the 1stS

Erin breezes through the 2nd getting an infield pop up and 2 more K's. A one out walk to Neleigh Herring is followed by Bailee Nickerson's home run to left center, her 1st of the season. Shocks take a 2-0 lead and break a string of 7 scoreless innings.

Erin runs into trouble in the 3rd giving up a 1 out solo home run to left, followed by an error on Ryleigh Buck at 3rd and a 2-run home to left. After getting the 2nd out on a strike out she gave up a single to center and another home run to left and Hailey Martinez is on in relief. Perhaps Erin's worst inning of the year. Hailey induces a ground out to 3rd to end the PV at bat but Shocks are now in a 2-5 hole. Need to find their hitting shoes. Shocks had an opportunity in their half of the 3rd but could not cash in. Sydney McKinney lead off with a single to center. Butters Perrigan walked with 1 out and Neleigh Herrign reached safely on an error by the SS with 2 outs. Unfortunately, Bailee could not deliver a big 2-out hit as she popped out to 2nd. PV leads 5-2 after 3.

Both teams went down in order in the 4th.

With 2 outs in the top of the 5th Hailey gives up a single and hits a batter to put runners at 1st and 2nd. An error by Hailey then loaded the bases and the Shocks brought in Caitlyn Bingham to try to get out of the winning. Caitlyn did that with a strike out. So both teams have now missed on a 2-out bases loaded opportunity. Shocks are running out of outs. Need to get something going. 3 up and 3 down in the Shocker 5th.

Nothing doing for either team in the 6th.

PV down in order in the top of the 7th. Shocks with one final chance to do something. Shocks only manage a 1 out walk in the 7th and their 8 game winning streak comes to an end.

All credit to PV pithcer, Crystal Castillo, who held the Shockers to just 2 hits.

2nd consecutive game the Shocker have not done much on offense and perhaps the 1st time the Shocks missed having Bailey Lange. Still no word on what Bailey's situation is.

            Game 4 - Abilene Christian (4-7)

Caitlyn Bingham in the circle for the Shocks. Shocks are the visiting team in this one.

Scoreless after 3 innings. Shocker bats remain silent with only a 1-out single in the 3rd that was immediately wiped out by a double play. ACU had a 2-out double in the 2nd and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in the 3rd but failed to score.

Shockers put runners at 1st and 2nd in the 4th but Laurie Derrico grounds into a 3rd to 1st double play. Caitlyn gives up a 2-out infield single but nothing else in the bottom of the 4th.

Bailee Nickerson dents the scoreboard in the Shocker 5th with a solo home run to left field to put the Shocks up 1-0. Caitlyn breezes through the bottom half of the inning.

Shocks put runners on 1st and 2nd in the 6th and deja vu strikes as Laurie Derrico again grounds into a 3rd to 1st double play. After Caitlyn gave up a out single in the bottom of the 6th she induced a grounder to Ryleigh Buck at 3rd who threw the ball away trying for a force out at 2nd allowing that runner to score and the batter to reach 2nd. Caitlyn got to ground outs to finish the inning but the unearned run has tied the game. Ryleigh making some errors at the hot corner this year.

Shocks go quietly in the 7th with only a 2-out walk. Caitlyn sets ACU down in order in the bottom of the inning. Shocks have the top of the order coming up in the 8th.

Using the international tiebreaker. Wylie Glover placed at 2nd for the Shocks. Asea Webber moves Wylie to 3rd with a sac bunt. Lauren plates Wylie with a single to right. Butters walks (perhaps semi-intetionally). Ryleigh bunts the runners over to 2nd and 3rd but Laurie fouled out to 1st. Laurie having a tough, tough time in this game. ACU moves there runner to 3rd with a sac bunt and scores with a sac fly to right. Laurie's tough day continues in the field with an error at short to give ACU a runner with 2 outs. Caitlyn induces a foul pop to first to end the ACU at bat. 2-2 heading to the 9th.

Laurie place at 2nd for the Shocks in the 9th. Neleigh Herring bunts her to 3rd. Bailee delivers Laurie with a double to right center but that is all the Shocks get. In the bottom of the 9th the lead off batter walks (or is walked) to put runners at 1st and 2nd. After a sac bunt adances the runners another walk loads the bases with 1 out. The next batter grounds into a P to C to 1B to 3B double play to end the game. It appears the Shocks got the force at home, threw late to 3rd but then got the runner going from 2nd to 3rd (or perhaps rounding the bag at 3rd) for the final out. Not exactly how you would draw it up but it works.

Shocks escape with a 3-2 win. HCKA has to be worried about what happened to the offense. Bailee Nickerson about the only one with a good day at the plate today. Caitlyn had a very good day on the mound and pitched all 9 innings in this game.

              That all went south quick.

Also, concerning that there's been nothing about Baily Lange.

Bingham, Nickerson Earn Second Career Honor Roll

Caitlin Bingham and Bailee Nickerson were named to the league's honor roll this past week after leading the Shockers to a 3-1 record at the Maverick Invitational.

Bingham pitched a career-high 9.0 innings and tied her career-high of 10 strikeouts in Sunday's win over Abilene Christian, claiming two wins overall on the weekend. Coming up with 17 strikeouts over the weekend, Bingham only allowed one earned run in three appearances.

Nickerson came up with two home runs on Sunday, driving in the go-ahead run in the extra innings victory over ACU. Hitting .461 on the weekend, Nickerson extended her hit streak to eight games, marking a career-long.

This marks the second time Bingham and Nickerson have been named to the conference honor roll in their careers.
