Any comments on the Lady Shockers basketball schedule for this season?

IMO it appears to be our toughtest non-con schedule we have put together in quite a while. Interesting on how the LSU game came to be -- found this on the LSU web site:

The Lady Tigers will now take on Wichita State in the season-opener on Monday, Nov. 14 in Wichita, Kan. LSU was previously slated to take on Central Michigan but the Chippewas had to cancel the contest because it put them over the NCAA regulated allotment of games.
Apparently CMU misintepreted how many exempt games were on their schedule.

I only see two of the non-con games where I am pretty confident of the Shocks booking a win - Northwestern State and Winthrop - both at Koch Arena. Not sure who we will be facing in the Long Beach Tournament but that will be a nice pre-Christmas trip for the Shocks.

UC Davis and Central Michigan were very good last year. UC Davis beat the Shock by 12 in Koch Arena and CMU blasted the Shocks by 25 in Mt. Pleasant. CMU did graduate its top 3 scorers however. A couple of nice home-and-home deals. Not sure if they continue beyond this year or not.

Arizona and K-State will also be very tough opponents on the road.

We will have to play well to be around 0.500 going into MVC play, but this shedule should prepare us very well for the conference season.

I like the tougher schedule. Good job Jody and staff.

If we stay healthy, we can beat any on the schedule. Good tough competition that will get us ready for a run at the top in the Valley. :good:

I anticipate a record setting year for this team.

At the Long Beach State Tournament we will be playing UT-Arlington on Sunday (12/18) and then either Long Beach State or Western Michigan on Monday (12/19).

A couple of quirks in the schedule which I had not noticed previously.

Including the exhibition game against Pitt State we play 6 home games between November 9th and December 3rd. Then the Shocks have 6 road games including two MVC games and the Christmas Break and do not play again at home until Drake visits on January 5th. That's a 32 day gap between home games.

We open the MVC season on the road at UNI and Bradley at the end of December. We do not see UNI and Bradley in Wichita until the final two regular season games at the beginning of March. With Missouri State being our travel partner they have essentially the same bookending of their MVC schedule with UNI and Bradley.

Neither is really a big deal. Just a couple of scheduling quirks that caught my eye.

And I think Becky Endicott, Senior Associate Athletics Director, plays a significant role in the scheduling, too.
