  • They look good before they board for Italy

Was walking through Koch Arena and noticed the Lady Shox practicing. Coaches are up-beat. Chrystal and Kelsey are back!! A couple nice additions. Of course, we'll see, but I like what I saw. Still no big post, but Jacobs is a very, very long 6-2 who appears healthy and ready to play. The veterans are steady and confident. Yeah, I know, I saw this in five minutes. :D

I've watched several practices and they are looking good. Real good. The chemistry seems to be there among players and with the coaching staff.

This should prove to be a really exciting and competitive season and frankly, I can hardly wait.

It would be nice if fellow die-hards would help promote to friends and family. These young women are doing their part. We need to do ours.

The only promotion that is needed is for the Ladies to play winning and entertaining basketball. Do that and the fans should start to show up again.

This is the year it needs to start happening for the Shocks. We no longer have the excuse of being young and inexperienced and adjusting to a new Coach's system and approach.

At the end if last year Haleigh was playing as well as anyone in the league and IMO is one of the top 3 players in this league along with Garrison and Kalin. If she can stay out of foul trouble and carryover her level of play from the end of last year it could be a special Senior year for Haleigh.

UNI and MSU will probably be the MVC favorites this year, but there is no reason the Shocks can't be right their nipping at their heels.

Nice report on Kelsey Jacobs in the Eagle today. Also some props from Jody towards freshman Alex Harden.

The Shox fans will come out in full force, if the Women Shox play like they should; and; the fans will fill it up. Jody has mellowed a bit. She knows the constant Marine drill sargeant, Pat Summit, stuff doesn't always work. Take good players and make them better. I'm very hopeful. They have a healthy very good ball handler in Crystal and a finisher in Kelsey who hasn't really played yet and Haleigh who is unbeliveable, with returners and a couple of new very good athletes. If they stay healthy; 2nd place in the MVC is as bad is it gets.

If this team ever starts winning, and winning consistantly, the fans will be there. I still believe if Jody can get this team playing for Valley titles that they can out draw the volleyball program. They have a ways to go right now, but it can be done.

                Italy

Didn't the team have their 1st game in Italy yesterday? If so, there hasn't been anything reported anywhere as to how they did. Does anyone know anything about it?

It would seem they didn't look that bad on the court either.

                          Brian Petrotta's write up:

I gained a couple of pounds just reading Brian's report.

Hope the Ladies' luggage catches up to them.
