I would just like to drop in and say what a year for WSU Athletics. Look at what they have accomplished, not just on a local scale, but nationally.
Volleyball has an undefeated conference season and then HOSTS an exceedingly successful regional.
Men's basketball doesn't win their conference, doesn't get to the finals of the conference tourney and gets a 4 seed.
Women's basketball gets a win over a ranked team and plays UCONN (ok that's a stretch).
Baseball has been ranked, top 40 RPI and will have 2 high draft picks even if the season ends in disappointment.
Softball finishes 3rd in conference, out in the quarters of the conference tourney and gets a #3 at large seed in a regional they are more than capable of winning given their 3-0 record against the field.
Women's tennis loses a conference match for the 1st time in more than a decade, then doesn't win the conference tourney, gets into the NCAAs and was within a couple of points of making the Sweet 16.
Men's track has more than one opportunity for All America and is ranked #21 and women's track may have found 2 future superstars to build around.
Women's golf gets the conference individual champion.
I can't heap enough praise on the leadership and coaches of our athletics program, and it 100% starts with Darron Boatright. ADDB has cultivated the department, set expectations and managed to keep all the coaches in a place where they can be successful. Think about how hard that must be. Oh yeah, American POW6R. 100% his work. There is success all over the place, at a time when it's most difficult given the step up in competition.
It is most definitely a great time to be a Shocker.

Eugene Regional
BYU 2-3 Drake
The Bulldogs used a bases-loaded walk after an intentional pass to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Drake finished the Vally with an RPI of 33. You may recall their stud pitcher, Nicole Newman, who throws in the mid-to-upper 60s. She was the winner in relief.

Paul Suellentrop takes a look at the Shocks mental approach to the regional.

Being able to come in with some confidence based on head-to-head results during the season is perhaps virgin territory for the Shocks. We'll see how that works out. Of course, it probably also precludes OSU and Arkansas from overlooking the Shocks or taking games with the Shocks too lightly.Last edited by 1972Shocker; May 18, 2018, 11:02 AM.
