  • Shocker SB in the Polls

In the March 13 Release of the NFCA Poll, the Shockers are RV29 with fourteen votes, up from one vote last week.

Arkansas are RV30T with eleven votes, and Nebraska are RV32T with nine votes.

Among other teams the Shockers have played are Washington at #1, Auburn at #14, Ohio State at #17 and Michigan at #19.

In the ESPN.com poll, the ranked teams listed above are #1, #14, #18 and #19 respectively. Only Arkansas are in the RV list.

The NCAA has yet to release RPI for this year, but it should start within a week or two.

The shockers as of March 13th would probably fall about 23rd in the RPI numbers. The first RPI rankings will be out probably next week or the week after.

And the list of the AAC teams:

        26 - Shockers
        45 - Houston
        54 - South Florida
        58 - Tulsa
        68 - Memphis
        76 - Central Florida
        135 - East Carolina
        148 - UConn

I have never paid any attention to RPIs for softball, so I have no idea of their predictive value.

Why does softball have a mercy rule but basketball does not? Seems unfair. UConn needs to be learnt some things.

Women's basketball does have a mercy rule. Usually when folks check the scores of UConn's game it is not uncommon to hear them say, Oh my, Mericy me! Although it is a little different rule than the mercy rule in softball.

I know you can't win them all, but I wonder how it would look without the 2 walkoff disasters against THE Ohio State and Furman?

The polls released yesterday (changing browsers finally got me in) have the Shockers down to just one vote in the Coaches' Poll giving them RV T38. They are RV36 in the ESPN Poll although no vote totals are given.
