Game One

Shocks 4-2 Bradley

KA gets the start in this one. Hayley is back in the starting lineup at SS with Sammie back to 3B and Erin back at DP.

Creighton has won its first game against Illinois State, 1-0, and Missouri State has defeated Evansville by the same score. UNI was an 8-0 winner over Indiana State in five innings.

The Shocks score two in the third. Jamie drives home Erin (single) and Kiersten (hit-by-pitch) with a two-out single. Bradley responds with a run on a single, ground out and single. Shocks lead 2-1 after three complete.

The Braves tie the game in the fourth on a walk, double and wild pitch. Katie gives up a bunt single to lead off the fifth, and Sloan is on in relief. She immediately induces a fly ball to center which results in a double play. :) A pop-out and when are on to the fifth, still tied 2-2.

UNI beats Indiana State in their second game, 1-0.

Two errors and a walk load the bases with no one out in the Shocker sixth. Sammie grounds into a catcher-to-first DP(? ... topped ball? poor squeeze?), but Brittney is hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Rachel converts the opportunity with a two-run single. Shocks lead 4-2 heading to the Bradley half of the sixth.

Missouri State gets three in the sixth to defeat Evansville 4-3 in their second game.

Sloan retires seven batters (eight outs) before giving up a two-out double in the seventh. But then she ends the game with her second strike out.

Game Two

Shocks 5-3 (8 ) Bradley

Illinois State rallies to defeat Creighton, 4-2.

Breezy is the starter in this game. Erin takes over at third, Torrie is the DP and Sammie sits to start this one.

Bradley scores in the first on a single, two ground outs and another single. In the second, Brittney and Erin open the inning with singles, and Brittney scores on an errant throw by the SS, trying to complete a DP on Torrie's ground ball. The Braves retake the lead in the bottom of the second on a walk, two stolen bases and a fielder's choice. Bradley leads 2-1 after two.

In the fifth, Bradley uses a two-out single, stolen base and another single to take a 3-1 lead after five.

In the Shocker sixth, Brittney reaches on an error and comes around on an Erin double and Torrie single to score one. Erin is out at the plate on a pinch-hit ground ball by Holly, but Kiersten singles to score Torrie. A Bradley reliever gets Jamie to pop up, and the score is tied 3-3 as we go to the bottom of the sixth. The Shocks throw out a runner at the plate (Danika-to-Rachel-to-Gert) in the bottom half to preserve the tie.

In the seventh, Gert opens with a single and Hayley bunts Sammie to second. Rachel's single only advances her to third and neither Brittney nor Erin can score her. Bradley cannot dent the plate and we go to extras.

With one out, Danika singles and Kiersten follows with another. They advance on a wild pitch, but Jamie is caught looking. However, Gert comes through with a single to score two. Shocks lead 5-3 as we go to the bottom of the eighth. Breezy issues a two-out walk, but gets a ground out to end the game.

Just enough pitching, hitting and defense by the Shocks and enough errors by Bradley. The Shockers take both ends of the DH. :clap:

UNI with their two wins today have clinched the #4 seed. All of the possible ties with Creighton and Missouri State are still in play. Indiana State has been eliminated from tournament possibilities, but a Bradley win tomorrow along with an Evansville loss gets them in.

Game 3

Shocks 4-5 Bradley

Katie has this start. We are back to Sammie at third, Hayley at short and Erin as the DP.

After three, the Shocks have two singles and Bradley have three singles, but no one has any runs.

The Shockers break through in the fourth. Gert singles, advances to second on a ground out and to third on Rachel's single. After Rachel steals second, Erin drive in one, advancing to second on the throw home. Then Brittney delivers a single and two more runs. After Sammie reaches on an error, the Braves bring on a new pitcher who gets the last two outs of the inning. Shocks lead 3-0 in the middle of the fourth.

Two doubles score a run in the Bradley fourth.

Jamie leads off the fifth for the Shockers with a solo blast for a 4-1 lead. A single leading off the bottom half of the fifth brings on Sloan in relief. She gives up a single and a double which scores one run. Bradley executes a squeeze for another and follows with a triple to tie the game. Again, Sloan has difficulties when a team sees her for the second time in a weekend. The game is tied 4-4 after five complete.

Missouri State leads Evansville 6-0, so there is hope for Bradley to make the tournament. Illinois State leads Creighton 4-1 after four, so a Shocker win can move us to the #6 seed.

No runners have reached second as Breezy comes on to pitch the bottom of the seventh.

Missouri State has defeated Evansville, 7-0, and Bradley has to know that.

Three singles, the last two with two outs, and Bradley has won and qualified for the Valley Tournament.

Illinois State defeated Creighton, 8-1, but with the Bears win, the Shocks were playing Creighton in the first round no matter the outcome of this game.
