BCS Buster Track Invitational @WSU

This weekend the Shocker T&F teams will host the first BCS Buster Invitational at Cessna Stadium. The idea was patterned after the ESPN Bracketbuster concept getting together the top non-BCS teams in the nation. It appears on the women's side the Shocker's will be a slight favorite over Stephen F Austin and Kent State.

The "featured" schedule runs from 6-9pm and it looks like it will be a beautiful evening at Cessna Stadium. Following the meet will be a live concert by local band Seven Year Itch.

This will be the last chance to see some great Shockers this year like Tonya Nero, Aliphine Tuliamuk, Audacia Moore, etc. Come out, watch and cheer the Shockers on to victory!!!

What a crappy weather-day today turned out to be. Looks like the forecast is for the winds to back off beginning around 3:00 am Saturday.

Let's hope that's the case.

If we can get a sunny 70 degree day with low winds that would be great.

Yeah it looks like it will be terrific tomorrow night. The long distance races were moved to 3pm tomorrow so that should be much better for them!

The first ever BCS Buster was sure an exciting event for anyone who was in attendance! Unfortunately for the Shockers they lost by a mere 4 points to Stephen F Austin but there were lots of great performances nonetheless and the concert after the meet was fantastic! WSU put on a great show at Cessna Stadium.

Some of the highlights ...
--Audacia Moore had another terrific meet winning the 100 and 200 in 11.57 and 23.79. The 100m was a PR and just .03 off the school record. She also ran on the winning 4x1 relay.
--Tonya Nero won both the 1500 and 5k runs. Her times weren't the fastest but it appeared she was just running to win. Aliliphine Tuliamuk placed 2nd right behind her in the 1500.
--Shamoya Pruitt backed up Moore by placing 2nd in both the 100 and 200. Starting to become a great 1-2 punch for the Shocker sprint crew.
--Danielle Walker ran 2:10 to easily win the 800
--Frosh Natalie Morerod continued to have a good season placing 2nd in the 400h right around 61 seconds. She's ranked #2 in the Valley.
--Rachel York beat a good field in the steeplechase.

It seemed like the field eventers struggled a little bit, especially with all-American Tish Brown not long jumping this weekend with a slight injury. Hopefully she'll be back soon. The Shockers still look like the top team in the Valley and I hope this meet serves as motivation to rally the troops in 2 weeks!
