From what I could find Katherine is a 5/10", 150 lb righthander.

Here is a link to game summaries of this springs games FWIW:

Katherine sounds like she may also be a decent hitter. I wonder if she might hit for herself when pitching and perhaps see some time at DH when she is not pitching.

Difficult to say how good Katherine will be at the D-1 level. Hopefully, she will prove to at least comparable to Sloan in ability.

Looks like this may be Katherine's summer program:

72 IP AND 52 K'S NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE for high school competition. Have to be better than that to contribute at this level. Especially coming out of California. There are three better ones within 3 hours of WSU. Does recruiting have anything to do with winning? Duh?

IB29, have you seen this girl in California pitch? I bet the competition in California is a lot tougher than Kansas. It usually is. And, last time I checked on some pitching, you don't have to strike everyone out to be successful. Just like in hitting, you don't have to hit homeruns all the time to be a great hitter. This team definitely needs some pitching and they went to California to get it. Maybe the pitchers in Kansas you are referring to don't want to come to WSU.

Our top teams are as good as their top teams. I can say that because the Stangs are 1-1 against the No. 2 team in the country from Calif, and the Peppers out of KC hold their own. I believe both have winning records last year against all Calif competition they faced.

Give the kid a change guys. Lets see how she does against Butler County

Hovpen, if Butler sweeps us again next fall, I doubt Pooch will invite them back to play in 2012. Alright alright settle down flying moose, I am just kidding.
Here is an interesting tidbit though, I heard today that Missouri State and Creighton both have shown interest in Butler's freshman pitcher. Is this going to be another Lauren Supak situation where we miss out on her and she shuts us out 3 out of the 4 times we face her? I hope not.

1B29, do you care to elaborate on where those 3 pitchers are?

One is two and half hours southeast of Wichita and the other two are 3 hours south of Wichita. All are 2013's.

So, greater Tulsa and greater OKC?

Let me make a quick comment here. This may be true, but I think it is difficult to know right now. With the pitching distance for high school moving to 43' this year, I am not sure the new standard for "strike out queens" is known yet.

And the level of high school competition is always the great unknown.

High school hitters have taken over the game this year. No longer can a power pitcher just blow it by a hitter as evidenced by the high scores. ie Blue Valley 20, BVN 17, etc.

Hitters have temp. taken over the game.

One of the things I have noticed in looking at the line scores this season is the increased number of home runs - a big increase. And in nearly all cases, these are over-the-fence home runs. In today's paper, a girl from Maize had three.
