  • Lady Shocks v Oklahoma State

The Shockers begin a stretch of six games in five days with a single game against Oklahoma State Tuesday at 7pm. This game is followed by a DH with Missouri State on Wednesday and a weekend series with Evansville, all at the Wilkins.

Oklahoma State is currently 5-4(T4) in the Big 12 and took two from Texas Tech over the weekend. They are ranked 18/20 in the latest polls and run-ruled the Shocks 10-1 earlier this year in Stillwater.

The Shockers return to action at Wilkins Stadium with six games in five days starting on Tues., April 19. They take a break from conference action as they welcome Oklahoma State University for a single game at 7:00 p.m. The Shockers will then return to MVC action as they host Missouri State for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Wed., April 20. Wichita State will then wrap up the week with a three-game series against Evansville. The two teams will meet for a doubleheader on Friday and wrap up the three-game set on Saturday afternoon.

    Oklahoma State 2-4 Shocks

KA starts this one and escapes a bases loaded, one out situation in the first. Jamie and Gert single in the first, and we load the bases with one out in the second but cannot get anyone across. No score after two.

In the third, Hayley has a two-out double and Sammie singles her home. Based on innings pitched, #3 is replaced by #4 for OSU, and she gets out of the inning. Shocks lead 1-0 after three.

Sloan starts the fourth for the Shocks. A double, sac and single score a run for the Cowgirls to tie the game. Erin doubles to lead off the bottom of the fourth. A sac gets her to third and Kiersten drives her home with a single. Shocks lead 2-1 after four.

In the fifth, OSU gets a two-out single and a stolen base but no more. Gert walks and Hayley singles to start the Shocker fifth. After Sammie forces pinch-runner Torrie Brown, Rachel scores Hayley from second on a fielder's choice force out at second of Sammie. I suspect there is more to this play than Live Stats can say, but I cannot be sure. Then a single and error by the RF score Rachel and the Shocks lead 4-1 after five.

OSU has a solo shot in the sixth to bring the score after six to 4-2, Shocks.

After Sloan gets the first out in seventh, Breezy is on to pitch. A ground out to the pitcher (no error! :) ) and a strike out, and the deal is sealed.

This has to give the team loads of confidence after their sweep of Creighton over the weekend, even if they were facing #3 and #4 tonight. The pitching was again effective, allowing only five hits and two walks.

Shocks close out a very, very nice 4-2 win over the Cowgirls.

The ladies seemed to have found their mojo here lately. Let's hope it continues.

      :good: :goshocks:

Wow nice win indeed!! I was a little skeptical with the wins over Creighton knowing that Creightons #1 pitcher didn't throw, but this win has given me hope. :good:

          From the Web site writeup:

Milnark hit into a fielder's choice as the Cowgirls got Shook out at second base. Heads up running from Temple allowed her to go all the way from second to home as OSU tried to get Milnark out in a double play.
