Creighton not showing the Shocks much respect. Starting their #4 pitcher who came in with a 6.48 ERA and a 1-7 record. So far though it's working as she has pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball.

Shocks tie it up in the top of the 4th on a 2-run double by Sammie Shook.

KA is starting the first game. Creighton leads 2-0 after one. The Shocks tie the game in the fourth on a two-run double by Sammie after a Heather walk, a Hayley single and a Rachel sacrifice bunt. After a rough first inning, Katie has retired nine in a row and the game is tied after four at 2-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, KA gives up a lead-off double, but the runner is at third after a sac bunt and a pop-up. Nevertheless, Sloan comes into relieve (who knows? an in-game pitching staff management philosophy it appears) and ends the inning with a strikeout after a walk.

Sloan in to relieve Katie with 2 outs in the 5th and runners on 1st and 3rd.

Sloan get a strikeout to end the inning.

Nice work by Katie after a shaky 1st inning. She gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in the 1st. No runs on 1 hit over her next 3.2 innings.

Still tied at 2 all after 5.

Shocks score in the top of the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. Kiersten, who had walked earlier in the inning, scores on an error by the Creighton SS on a Hayley ground ball. Creighton brings 7-8-9 to the plate in the bottom half.

                Shocks 3-2 Creighton

The Shocks tie the game in the fourth on a two-run double by Sammie after a Heather walk, a Hayley single and a Rachel sacrifice bunt. Shocks score in the top of the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. Kiersten, who had walked earlier in the inning, scores on an error by the Creighton SS on a Hayley wind-blown pop up. Sloan sets down 7-8-9 in order in the bottom half, and the Shocks win the first game of the series.

Our pitching was the story of this game. Katie went 4.2 giving up five hits, four in the first inning, and Sloan finished up, getting the win, while giving up no hits and fanning three in 2.1

"Our pitching was the story of this game." Doubted I would ever be writing that! Nice job by KA and Sloan.

Creighton actually had 4 hits in the 1st so Katie and Sloan shut them out on 1-hit over the final 6 innings.

                  Nice job ladies.

                  :good: :goshocks:

Well, chalk the second game as a loss with Breezy in. I really can't wait til she graduates. I am tired of seeing this over and over with her. Not a fan!

                        Shocks 6-5(8 ) Creighton

Breezy starts this one. Her two errors in the first contribute to four unearned runs and the Shocks trail 4-0 after one.

Creighton scores another in the second, but Jamie hits a grand slam in the third (an Erin double and two walks loaded the bases), knocking the Creighton starter out of the game. The Shocks are back in it, trailing 5-4 after two and one-half.

After a lead-off single in the bottom of the fourth, Sloan is in.

Sammie homers to lead off the sixth, the game is tied at 5 and the starter of the first game is in for Creighton. Sloan has recorded five strike outs of her six outs since she came in, the sixth being a steal attempt on a strike-em out, throw-em out.

Creighton reaches second base in the seventh with a single and a sac bunt but cannot score. Sloan now has seven Ks.

In the eighth with two outs, Sammie walks, Rachel singles and Erin has an RBI single to put the Shocks in the lead. (A sophomore, freshman and freshman - I like it!) Sloan sets the Jays down in order in the bottom half, and the Shockers sweep the twin bill.

An outstanding day for Sloan with two wins. For the day, she gave up two hits in 7.1 and struck out eleven with only three walks.

It's been awhile since the Shocks put back-to-back wins together.

The theme for the day was Shocks fall behind early, but don't give up. The pitching staff bears down and keeps them in the game and the offense comes through with big hits to get back in the game including Sammie's game tying 2-run double in game 1 and Jamie's grand salami in game 2.

As flyingMoose points out Sloan had an oustanding day picking up wins in both games. Not sure how strong of a team Creighton is, but let's hope this is an indication that Sloan is on her way to being a solid D-1 pitcher.

                          Very nice effort today Ladies.

                          :good:
