Northern Illinois went 0-5 last weekend in Austin and did not put up a lot of runs but played pretty good competition (Texas 4-8, 1-14, Tulsa 2-3, 1-6 and Louisville 1-6)

St. John's is 4-6 with a win over Florida State, a loss to Virginia, 2 losses to Hofstra and splits with UNC Greensboro, Kent State and East Carolina.
    Because you want to know,

The Texas Tech Athletics Department and head softball coach Shanon Hays announced Monday the creation of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic, a three day round-robin tournament to be hosted annually at Rocky Johnson Field.

The 2011 Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic is scheduled for Feb. 25-27 with Northern Illinois, St. John's, and Wichita State all traveling to Lubbock for the three-day event.

"... we couldn't be prouder to celebrate the work of Jeannine McHaney."

Long considered the driving force behind women's athletics at Texas Tech, McHaney joined the Texas Tech faculty in 1966 in a number of roles. In addition to serving as a professor in the physical education department, McHaney was also the university's director or women's intramural sports and served as Tech's first volleyball coach for nine years.

Following the establishment of the Women's Athletic Department in 1975, McHaney was selected as the program's athletics director until the men's and women's departments eventually combined. McHaney remained one of the top administrators in Tech Athletics throughout the next two decades. She passed away in 1994.

We again appear to be at a tournament where only the games of the host team are on GT or streaming video. :-x

Gametracker is working. We are down 3-0, with 3 unearned runs. Errors will kill ya. Is it that hard to field, catch and throw the ball??? I don't get it.

It certainly doesn't help when all the errors are bunched in the same inning.

Shocks get 1 back in the bottom of the 5th on a Sammie Shook homer.

I'm glad Sammie's ribs don't affect her swing, now if someone can get on and Megan can hit one out........

Thanks '72. My goal is not to be mean or rude, but is this one of the worst D1 softball teams?

St. Johns appears to be awful. Their team ERA is almost 6 and they are 3 hitting us right now.

The direction at this point is not fruitful.

The wheels are falling off real quick. Just don't know what to say at this point. Sloan comes in and gives up a grand slam. More errors than hits. We really didn't come to play this morning. Very disappointing.

In Sloan's defense she did inherit two runners that had reached on another error and a single, but she promptly gave up another single and then the grand salami.

The problems are petty straight forward. When your pitching is suspect to begin with and you back that up with less than stellar defense and a poor offense you are not going to win many games.

If St. John's is one of the weakest D-1 programs not sure what that makes the Shocks.

                      :(

Erin Carney hits a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 7th that would have tied the game IF we had not given up the 4-spot in the top of the inning.

Shocks still alive with no outs, but a 4-run deficit is a lot to overcome.

                          :(

Well, actually, that's kind of what I meant. St. Johns looks pretty bad, and we don't seem to be putting up much resistance.

Shocks do get a big fly from the freshman from Andale to make 7-3 Johnnies.

Bases juiced with arguably our best hitter in Jamie Hull at the dish.
