    Shot Put - 0 - 17
    Weight - 0 - 22
    Pentathlon - 12 - 10

Not sure if this will be the same as when the entries come out but this should be a rough estimate based off the Valley lists.
    Pentathlon Prediction 12-10 Actual 17-10
Weight Throw Prediction 0-22 Actual 0-26
Long Jump Prediction 15-13 Actual 19-8
    3k Prediction 18-0 Actual 18-9

By my rough calculations, both SIU and WSU have exceeded their expectations by 5 points after day 1.

'74, curious about UNI star Daniel Gooris.....I know he's better in the decathlon but his numbers are way down in the hep. However, he seems to be competing at a high level in his specialty, the pole vault.

Is he injured, or simply just not as good as he once was?

Shocks hold down spots 1-5 in the heptathlon through 5 events.

The vault and the 1000 remain. The vault is going on right now.

I don't have the stomach to go back and check, but I'd wager I was bitching about a 2 bit program in middle Iowa last year when my $10 purchase funded their golf program for another season.

If people are going to host in this worthless conference, can someone at least ensure that the bozos are capable of plugging in the equipment?

          Man I hate this conference.

            400 Prediction 0-8 Actual 2-0
            60 hurdles Prediction 9-13 Actual 13-10

So far I calculate we're ahead of pace by 13 points and SIU is 2 points behind pace.

            Keep it up ladies!

Shocks go 1-2-3 in the 200 and this one is over. Shocks will repeat and make it 4 of the last 6 championships.

They lead by 40+ and still have the 5k where they should dominate.

Congratulations to the Lady Shocks track team.

Is Women's Track & Field/Cross Country programs the best in the Shocker arsenal (excluding bowling) over the last 6 years?

Shocker Volleyball and Women's Tennis have been very good, but the Lady Shocks T&F team has been outstanding.

The only Men's program in the same ballpark (so to speak) would be the Baseball team.

Just going by memory here which may be a little dangerous.

Not even close '72, not even close.

All-Americas, MVC Championships, school records, NCAA appearances.

Steve Rainbolt is the MAN right now.

Not only that, he is running a tremendously successful fitness program, one I hope to join next year and he appears to love Wichita.

Perhaps this is where some money and foresight should be focused?

I would LOVE to see a premiere track event at Intrust, and also the MVC Indoors there as well.

Congrats to Steve and all associated with the T&F programs.

Thanks everyone for keeping the updates rolling this weekend.

WuDrWu - Gooris from UNI was injured and competed the best he could but wasn't able to even come close to his previous form.

'72 - I agree with everything you posted about this being one of (if not) the best programs at WSU right now. Men's Golf has got to be in the conversation too IMO.

Overall these ladies made breaking the all-time MVC scoring record look easy. With at least 3 girls ranked in the top 8 in the NCAA in their events right now WSU could finish pretty high at the NCAA meet in 2 weeks. That would cap off one of the best seasons in school history!

                      Great job ladies!!!
