  • Eckenrode's sister among H.S. Freshmen of the Year finalists

Courtney Eckenrode, 5-7 Setter, The Woodlands (Texas) One of two freshman starters for the Texas Class 5A state runner-ups, Eckenrode led the Highlanders in assists (760) and aces (57) and was third on the team in digs (292). Blessed with great quickness and an outstanding defender who excelled in the back row, the younger sister of former Wichita State player Lindsey Eckenrode was named to the District 14 Class 5A First Team.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

The timing works good. She would come in following Chelsey Feekin's senior year.

Not sure whether Lambo wants to go back to a smaller setter. The trend seems to be moving toward setters that are around 6' tall.

Of course, Courtney, being a freshman and having a 6'2" sister, may have some growing yet to do.

Would sure be great to have another Eckenrode in the fold.

Courtney's Woodlands team is 44-0 and playing tonight for the Texas 5A State Championship. The Woodlands is ranked #1 in Texas and #3 in the entire country.

The varsity team has SEVEN, that's right SEVEN, Division 1 commits, including Courtney who has chosen........

        wait for it............

          San Diego State.

Wish Courtney the best today (doubt she'll need it) and in her future at SDSU. I'm sure her big sis is proud of her, just like we're proud of Lindsey.

Can't believe she would like San Diego over Wichita. I mean besides the beautiful weather, the beaches and a bunch of "Hollywood Marines" how would SD be better? For those non
Marines the term Hollywood Marine is applied to those that go to basic training at MCRD San Diego. They are usually looked down on by the "Real" Marines that went to MCRD Parris Island.
