  • #1 UNI vs #3 Shocks

Normally, I always lead with the Shocks listed first in my thread titles, but the two previous match threads led with the opponent first. I'm going with that so as not to tempt fate.

UNI would seemingly have a big advantage with the Shocks having played back-to-back tough matches totalling 9 sets including a very tough, emotionally draining 5-setter vs MSU yesterday. UNI on the other hand won an easy 3-setter from Creighton yesterday.

Emily Stockman had 50 kills on 124 attacks vs SIU and MSU.

The Shocks will definitley have to play very hard to knock of UNI. Will they have enough gas left in the tank.

Quite frankly, the SIU and MSU matches were probably more important to win than this one. Attendance at the UNI-CU match was 1,089. I would expect only a few hundred, at best, this afternoon, so the environment won't do much to generate any adrenalin.

The Shocks are capable of pulling this off and it would be a very impressive win if they can do it.

Hopefully, we can get a much more Sarah McGee type performance from Sarah McGee today to add to the mix. Her 7-5-30 = .067 line vs MSU was decidely below par for Big Mac. However, I'll take her 1 block solo and 8 block assists anytime. I'm sure getting Sarah back on track offensively will be something Lambo is giving a lot of thought and effort to.

Shocks were in control of the set but 2 service errors and 2 poor attack errors have pulled UNI back into the set at 21 all. Now 22 all.

Need to play clean to beat UNI.

Mel lets a serve fall well within the back line. UNI up 24-22.

Shocks not playing bad, but you have to play clean because UNI will not beat themeselves. Shocks just making to many unforced errors.

Wow, that nice little lead evaporated and reversed itself.

UNI with an uncharacteristic error. Shocks up 25-24.

                  Big set point coming up.

Shocks continue to show some toughness coming back from 22-24 to take set 1 by a 28-26 score.

Kim with a big set including a big kill off the head of UNI blocker that bounced way out of play.

UNI starting to show their defensive prowess.

                            Shocks also blocking well.

                              Set 2 goes UNI's way 25-19.

Shocks need to regroup as UNI looked good in Set 2. Will the Shocks' legs hold up? Have to work hard for points against UNI.
