Congrats to Emily on another MVC POW selection. Ho-Hum!

Her stats vs MSU show just what a great 6-rotation player Emily is:

Wichita State outside hitter Emily Stockman led the Shockers to a sweep of second-place Missouri State on Friday night. She posted her 11th double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills and a team-high 18 digs. She averaged 5.33 kills, 6.00 digs and 5.33 points per set, while hitting .368 on the left side. She also had a perfect reception percentage in 11 total attempts.

Are we starting to take Emily for granted?

I loved Sarah Younes, Sara Lungren and Kelly Broussard but Emily can and does do it all and at a high level. I think she would have to get my vote. Hopefully, we can find or develop more like her going forward.

Only 4 more opportunities to catch this terrific athlete and great WSU ambassador at home. Drake and Creighton this weekend and Bradley and UNI on November 13th and 14th.

Perhaps, although I knew after the summer of beach that he back row ability would improve dramatically, just as Sarah's did her senior year.


It seems to me that Sarah Lungren holds that spot down at this time, but if Emily finishes this season strong at all, she'd get my vote. The only thing that would make it a discussion (imho) is that Emily was only here 3 years and Sarah 4 (5 with redshirt).






Rethinking it a bit......I love Sarah, but Emily is the best ever.

Emily is really good. I'm not sure she could be the overpowering player who could score "at will" against Nebraska or Texas and so I'm not sure she is our "best ever." But I know we'll miss her next year.

If that is the standard, then I guess we don't have and may never have a "best ever". What makes Emily great is her all-round game IMHO.

There may be facets of her game where Sara Lungren was a little stronger because of her size. Sarah Younes was probably a little stronger from the service line. Kelly Bee was Queen of the Dig. But Emily has the best complete game IMHO. She come close to or equals Sara L. as an attacker and brings the athleticism of Sarah Y.

The fact that it is not clear cut shows you how far this program has progressed under Lambo. Who will be the next player that will be thrown into this discussion? Will be fun to see.

BTW, I hope Emily gets one more shot at Texas and/or Nebraska.

Wichita State senior Emily Stockman became the first Shocker to earn All-American honors twice. She was named an honorable mention selection for the second time by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Stockman, an outside hitter, averaged 4.03 kills and 3.63 digs. Her 479 kills and average rank third in WSU's history.

If only we'd have been able to have her all 4 seasons. I'm not sure what the records are, but i'm pretty sure she would've shattered almost any hitting record currently held.

Stockman averaged 4.03 kills, 0.29 aces, 3.63 digs and 0.46 blocks per set while hitting .263. Her 479 kills and 4.03 kills per set average this season both rank third in the Shocker record books for kills in a season and kills per set in a season.

She finishes her career fourth in the Shocker career record books in kills, first in kills per set, fourth in attack attempts, sixth in service aces per set, seventh in digs, fourth in digs per set, fourth in points and first in points per set.
