Almost everybody's schedule is out. Penn State is out and they only top team they play is St. Louis. Penn State will go through the regular season undefeated; perhaps Minnesota will make them break a sweat but that's about it.

Where is WSU's schedule? With the weakness of the MVC, not playing some top teams may come back to bite us. The talk of changing conferences (to the Big 12 :D ) is more and more appealing.

When you play teams that were good in the previous year, you might get stuck with some duds. We have learned this from basketball. Last year Cal Poly was the #10 team in the preseason poll and they didn't even make the NCA tourney.

Perhaps Chris Lamb has selected teams that will/should be good in 2009. North Carolina? Rice? Oklahoma? South Carolina? Harvard? Grambling State?

Cal dropping their tournament may have a lot to do with the lateness of the schedule release. Hopefully we can fill that hole in the schedule with someone decent, but it is was awfully late in the game for Cal to dump that in our laps.

          Mad: I agree.

ADDED: Cal apparently was not the main culprit in the cancelation of the "Cal tourney." I am therefore removing criticism of Cal from my old posts. :D

Sorry if this was already posted somewhere, but I've been doing a little looking at other team's schedules and we are playing at Louisville.

Louisville finished 33 in the pablo and 34 in Rich Kern's rankings last year.

              Thanks.

Louisville and Arizona are OK-good. I've never heard of Belmont.

We play some good teams. Nobody we play will get us into the Top 25 rankings, although we might start there because of 2008. Assuming we don't lose any regular season games and start in the Top 25, I think we finish the regular season in the Top Ten, like 2008. I don't see anybody on our schedule who SHOULD beat us (but that's why they play the game). Not playing Cal will hurt us when it comes to being or not being seeded. If we're seeded, we don't have to play Texas or Nebraska until the third (or later) round.

A good job by Chris Lamb and staff to recover. If only we have initially scheduled more than one Top Ten team. In 2009, the only Top Ten team we'll play during the regular season will be Wichita State, in daily practice.

I checked some other schedules for the Louisville tourney, and it looks like Pittsburg is also in that field. Not every team plays every other team.

WSU is playing Belmont and Louisville, but is not playing Arizona. Pittsburg doesn't have their schedule out yet, but we may be playing them.

The best Pablo ranking of an opponent of Belmont in 2008 was #9 Hawaii (in the NCAA tourney). Otherwise, the best were #104 TCU, #123 Furman, #132 Murray State, etc.

Belmont played (well, got trashed 19-25, 11-25, 16-25) in the NCAA tourney. Belmont was #142 Pablo and #88 RPI in 2008. Not a match/game that will help WSU in 2009.

Louisville: #33 Pablo and #56 RPI in 2008.

Perhaps we are playing Arizona and they just haven't updated that we are in that tournament on their schedule.

I don't think everyone will play everyone else in that tourney in any case, since Pitt and Louisville are both in the Big East and will play each other later.

SMU, UConn and WSU were going to play Cal at the end of August. Here is SM's schedule: http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/w...ley-sched.html

The Mustangs did better than did we. They are playing New Mexico State, a faily good team, Northern Colorado and UTSA.

It's not that impressive of a schedule. :(

The potential game with the Italian National Team is not listed. This may be the reason for the delay in posting WSU's schedule on goshockers.com http://www.goshockers.com/SportSelec...38&SPSID=61209

Since the Italian National team game doesn't count, I see no reason why WSU could not go 28-0 in OOC play and 2-0 in the MVC tourney. Oklahoma is probably the best team we will face; UNC isn't bad either.
