Heard on another post that Jessa Benson 6'2" setter from Northern Iowa was transferring to Wisconsin at semester. If this is true, it will be nice for her as she is a Wisconsin resident. Badgers could also use another setter, and no doubt she would be an option at opposite.

Here is a free page on RichKern which lists the 2009 Senior Aces http://www.richkern.com/vb/PrepVolle...sp?VBYear=2009.

Here is a page (which may or may not be free) which lists where these Senior Aces are going. http://www.richkern.com/vb/PrepVolle...=1&VBYear=2009

Wichita State #72 Chelsey Feekin, S, 6'2", NE

Some MBs are listed at 6'1"; I like the idea of a 6'2" setter. (Of course, heights are always questionable.)

There is an uncommitted 6'6" MB from GA listed. Her name is Taylor Montgomery. Height does not equal skill but if she is listed among the Senior Aces, she can't be terrible. Maybe her grades are bad? Stephanie Tokarz, 6'5" MB, will be a senior in 2009. Of course, in 2008 Sarah McGee, 6'3" MB, played great; she will be a junior in 2009.

If you subscribe to PrepVolleyball, this page may be of interest; look at the list of High Honorable Mention (with 25 teams, just after the Top 30 and the 15 teams in "Highest Honorable Mention" and just before the last group, "Honorable Mention" with 25 teams):

The MVC had 6 teams in various "Honorable Mention" categories. Not too bad. You might want to spend the $20 or $25 and subscribe to PrepVB.

The 2009 roster (without freshmen, yet) is posted. It looks like some of the fifth year players (e.g. Amanda Moore) may have graduated or moved on. Best of luck to all current and former players. Best of luck to the coaches.

The roster is complete; see the link above. We have:
Six (6) seniors - Emily, Lindsey, Stephanie, Melissa, Kim and Katie.
Two (2) juniors - Sarah M. and Amanda.
Two (2) sophomores - Mary Elizabeth and Sarah W.
Three (3) RFr - Jackie, Dana and Jada.
Nine (9) Fr - Elizabeth Field (CA), Emily Adney (CO), Alysa Heath (CO), Chelsey Feekin (NE), Ashley Andrade (AZ), Lindsey Engel (KS), Katie Vogts (KS), Brianna Kaiser (KS) and Haley Dotson (KS).

I have briefly spoken with Stephanie, Melissa, Lindsey, Sarah McGee, Mary Elizabeth and Jada previously and found every one of them to be a wonderful person. This is going to be a great team. I hope you attend some matches.

The team breakdown by position is
                MB: 6-5 (ST), 6-3 (SM), 6-3 (JW), 6-2 (AA*), 6-1 (KN), 6-1 (EF*)
                OH: 6-2 (LE), 6-2 (EA*), 6-1 (DL), 6-0 (ES), 6-0 (KW), 6-0 (BK*), 5-11 (AB), 5-11 (KV*), 5-11 (AH*), 5-11 (HD*)
                S: 6-1 (CF*), 5-10 (MEH)
                L: 5-9 (JC). 5-8 (MG), 5-8 (LE*), 5-7 (SW).
NOTE: Players with a * after their names are true freshman and might redshirt in 2009.

We will be really strong at setter in 2009, 2010 and 2011 with Mary Elizabeth Hooper and Chelsey Feekin. MEH was CVU National Freshman of the Year in 2008. CF was #72 best recruit in 2009 and a great right side hitter as well as a great setter. The question I have is what offense do we play, 5-1 or 6-2? MEH loves to dump the ball and is very good at this. My guess is that we play 5-1 in 2009 with MEH getting most of the playing time and CF spelling her; this is just my uninformed guess however. CF might redshirt but I hope not unless she needs to learn Chris Lamb's system. In 2010, I can see us playing either the 5-1 or 6-2.

WSU is always outstanding on defense. I expect Melissa Granville to be our starting Libero with Jackie Church and Sarah Waldorf as defensive specialists. I don't know anything about Lindsey Engel but the coaching staff is pretty picky about defensive players and I imagine she will be good in the future.

Our MBs should be great, led by senior Stephanie Tokarz (2007 All-MVC) and junior Sarah McGee (2008 All-MVC) with senior Katie Niggemeyer playing an important role. (Was Katie All-MVC in 2008?) I hope Jada has a sophomore season in 2010 like Sarah McGee had in 2008; I don't know if Jada will play much in 2009.

Our OHs will be great. Senior Emily Stockman was MVC MVP and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American in 2008; she should be great in 2009. I would guess that Emily, senior Lindsey Eckenrode and junior Amanda Backes get most of the playing time with senior Kim Wadsworth coming in at critical times when her skills (e.g. serving, inspired play) are needed. Dana Loganbill has great athletic ability and I'm interested in seeing her play. I've heard some good things about Katie Vogts but have never seen her play.

I don't know much about the incoming freshmen. I expect some of them to be Shocker stars in the future.

We (Shocker fans) can't control recruiting or success in the matches. What we can do is attend Shocker matches and cheer for the team. I strongly urge every Shocker fan to attend at least one WSU volleyball match this fall. If you like it, buy a season ticket or two; I'm increasing the number of season tickets I purchase so my kids and grandkids can all watch Shocker volleyball.

Soory. I don't know. Maybe 1972 or WrDrWu has an idea.

                    On Emily Adney, we have
                    1. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/new...-league-teams/
JEFFERSON COUNTY (Colorado) LEAGUE (4A) 2008 Player of the year: Emily Adney, D’Evelyn

                    2. http://www.denverpost.com/preps/ci_11190675
Emily Adney didn't make the All-Colorado roster or even the first team 4A All-state first team but she was on the 4A second team. (Alysa Heath does not seem to be mentioned at all in that article.)

                    3. http://m.9news.com/news.jsp?key=160909
Emily Adney appears to be a scholarship player and was reported in this January 31, 2009 article. Her name on the roster was the first time I became aware of her. (Alysa Heath is also listed on this "National Letter of Intent commitment list.")

From this article, it sounds like Ashley Andrade "was" the team. In the 2008 2A state volleyball championship in Arizona, Ashley's team won the first two sets and the other team, Thatcher, came back and won the last three sets. According to the article:

The comeback required an adjustment by Thatcher head coach Krista Brown.

“We knew if we shut down their middle hitter (Ashley Andrade), then we could win the game,” Brown said.

Brown stacked her defenders in the middle, and the Eagles blocked Andrade six times in the third game and won 26-24. The Thatcher fans started chanting the Eagles fight song after the third set, and the crowd gave Thatcher a big boost. The Eagles won the final two sets 25-23 and 15-12.

The roster on goshockers.com now includes the incoming freshmen:

My "guess" is, you have to ask yourself if all the time and hard work is worth the results you are getting. Being on a top ten Div 1 team in any sport is extremely hard work and takes alot of time from your life. If playing time during a match is important and you are not getting it - well you make a decision. With this team and the large number of players (all great at this sport) if you are not a starter you don't get much court time during any matches.

Amanda might have graduated. If she was an ed major, she might be doing student teaching (or prep for student teaching). Didn't someone post that she is going out with a Shocker baseball or basketball player? If so, I doubt that she has gone too far away.
