Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Congrats to Kelly, Emily and Mary Elizabeth on their well-deserved recognition.

      I think Kelly has a shot a All-American recognition.

Not sure about Emily. Probably too much competition at her position.

      :goshocks: :good:

Is there a regional or national coach of the year award? If so, any idea when it comes out?

The only 2008 volleyball loss (out of the huge number from which to choose :D ) that bothers me is the MSU loss. I really dislike the Valley tourneys (in VB, MBB, WBB!!!, etc.). Why not dump the Valley tourneys and play a few more OOC games against top teams? (OK I like watching the MVC baseball tourney but I would rather see the Shocks playing at home against Long Beach or USC or Irvine or Florida or ... than against MSU, Indiana State, Creighton, etc.) Imagine volleyball with KSU and Nebraska playing at WSU to end the regular season.

The volleyball team deserves more props than it has received (even though it has received many). From now on "More Props to WSU volleyball" should replace "More Cow Bells" throughout the world as the thing to say.

AVCA Division I Central Region Coach of the Year
          John Cook, University of Nebraska
          2008 Record: 29-2, 18-2 Big 12
Despite losing four AVCA All-Americans from last year's national quarterfinal team, John Cook has his University of Nebraska squad in the national championship hunt once again. The Huskers are 29-2 heading into this weekend's NCAA Tournament round of 16 against Michigan. Nebraska was Big 12 co-champion in 2008, going 18-2; it is their fifth consecutive conference title, and the 11th in 13 years. Nebraska began the season ranked No. 7 in the Bison/AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll; after knocking off top-five foes USC and Stanford in the Runza/AVCA College Volleyball Showcase to open the year, the Huskers shot to No. 2, and haven't dropped any lower than their current ranking of No. 4 since. In his seventh season at Nebraska, Cook is 249-16 (.940) as coach of the Huskers. He has now won AVCA Division I Region Coach of the Year four times, having also earned the award in 1997, 2000 and 2005.
