    What's wrong with the Wichita Eagle?

    The volleyball coverage in the Eagle is rather poor. They get props for trying but they need a better reporter or editor.

    1. Amanda Backes is called a "senior outside hitter" when she is a sophomore.

    "The Shockers' win Friday was more impressive because senior outside hitter Amanda Backes was out with an illness, and several other players had been under the weather all week."

    2. The print edition of today's paper (page 3D) includes a boxed article called "MVC Standings" with information about the MVC VB tourney. They say that Creighton plays the winner of #4 MSU and #5 Illinois State while WSU plays the winner of #3 UNI and #6 Evansville. This is wrong. #1 (WSU) plays the winner of #4 and #5 while #2 (CU) plays the winner of #3 and #6. (e.g. http://www.richkern.com/vb/conference/conf08.asp).

    Wow!! The MVC got it wrong too.
    No. 4 Missouri State will face No. 5 Illinois State in the tournament opener on Thursday, Nov. 27, at 6:00 p.m., followed by No. 3 UNI versus No. 6 Evansville at 8:00 p.m. The game one winner between Missouri State and Illinois State will take on No. 2 Creighton on Friday evening at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal while the UNI/Evansville winner will face No. 1 Wichita State in the second semifinal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

        There seems to be a lot wrong with the eagle.
        First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

            The Eagle is laying off people so that could impact the quality of the reporting. Man, it's getting bad.

              For the Valley to get it wrong is troubling to me. Are they NOT very bright?
              First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

                I didn't see saturdays paper. Did the volleyball team get front page or front page of the sports section after accomplishing a nearly impossible feat in college sports?

                  No, but Penn State did...;) Actually I have no clue, I just read it online...I wouldn't pay for that paper most days.

                    The MVC has fixed their error:

                      On the Kansas Now 22 broadcast of the Iona@WSU WBB game today, Bruce repeated the incorrect information that the winner of UNI & UE would play the Shocks in the MVC VB tourney. Has it become unfashionable to check your sources and do some simple background work?

                          In today's (Monday) Eagle, the error is corrected. Of course, they don't admit that there was an error. :lol:
