  • Recruiting Update

This is probably as close to a confirmation that we will get for awhile that Chelsey is locked down. Troublesome though is the absense of Stephanie Ziegler from Arizona. I was very excited about her potential and Rich Kern still says she is committed but with 4 other signees at this point at least you have to raise an eyebrow.

We'll have to dig deeper at this point.

Doc, do you know much or have your heard much about the 4 Kansas girls that have committed?

    Thanks.

      Unfortunately, not much.

In fact, I was expecting at least 3 names that didn't appear.

I know that Katie is really good and that her sister may even be better.

I'm not that concerned about not hearing about Stephanie Ziegler (or another recruit for that matter). The fact is that if Lamb isn't talking about who is signed, which he isn't, then P.S. and the rest of us have to depend upon the local media in the areas where these girls play.

The reality is the level of attention that is given to high school volleyball players signing with colleges is going to vary dramatically from place to place depending upon who is reporting.

Plus we have no idea if the Kansas kids are going to be on scolarship or walking on. I would guess that most, if not all, will be walk-ons, at least to start with.

I would think that Katie Vogts will be on scholarship.

The rest may very well be walk ons, but most of the young ladies on the VB team are excellent students and the walk ons may very well be receiving some decent academic scholarship assistance.

If I recall right, Katie committed to WSU as a FRESHMAN in high school, on the same visit when Dana committed as a SOPHOMORE.

It's getting crazy how early girls commit to a sport these days!

As long as they are committing to WSU, I don't think many of us care. :)
