  • Shocks vs Santa Clara (Late Nite With Mike Kennedy)

Shocker VB team takes on #19 ranked Santa Clara tonight in Hawaii.

Mike Kennedy should be on the air at 9:45 PM with the pre-game show with the match scheduled to start at 10:00 PM our time.

Good opportunity to really measure how much improvement, if any, the Shockers have made since the opening weekend.

Also, a good opportunity to make a statement to the NCAA post-season committee facing two top 25 teams this weekend.

This weekend will be even tougher then our first weekend. Playing against tougher opponents and away from home. I have the same expectations I had in week 1 where I thought we would go 1-2, but I still hope for that one time when we can upset somebody. I'd love for us to beat either of the ranked teams. I think it's going to be hard to tell the level of improvement because of the competition. I'd say that staying close and taking one set from one of the ranked teams would show improvement, but even going by that it's hard to measure in volleyball.

      From Hawaii website for TV:

Matches are also available via the Internet at www.hawaiiantelmedia.com for a fee.

Hopefully it'll match up with Mike Kennedy.

Btw, official fanaticism occurs in my life when I cannot listen to a tight game for a bit because I care too much to hear my team lose.

I have crossed that line tonight with Shocker Volleyball.

I'd say that last weekend might not have been a fluke.

Shocks take game 1 by a 30-26 score. Seem to be playing well.

Based on Mike's PBP sounds like Abby Harsh had a very fine first game.

Shocks with one of the better blocking efforts this year with 5 blocks.

              Keep it up ladies.

Shocks by 30-23 in game 2.

Sounds like Sara Lungren has her power game going well tonight.

                        Good all-around team effort.

The fact that we are blocking this effectively against a very good hitting team is huge considering that blocking was the major question mark about this team. If we block like this, very few teams are going to beat us.

Now let's put this thing away. :wsu_posters: :posterwu:
