Cal Poly defeated OU in another very competitve 5-set match by scores of 25-16, 19-25, 22-25, 25-16 and 15-11.

          Final Tournament Standings:

          WSU Shockers 3-0
          Cal Poly Mustngs 2-1
          Oklahoma Sooners 1-2
          Michigan State Spartans 0-3

Exceptional work ladies. Great experience. Great confidence builder.

Enjoy your championship for the rest of the day.

Back to practice tomorrow to work on getting better.

Congrats to Kelly Broussard for her selection as Tourmanment MVP.

Nice to see the little one get her due. Might be a strong hint why the Shocks were able to win this tournament. DEFENSE.

Congrats also to Emily and Mary Elizabeth.

Now returned from McCasland Hall and the campus of the University of Oklahoma where our ladies took the early season Sooner Legends/Nike Invitational by sweeping 3 very solid teams.

Having followed the Volleyball program (closely) for 5 years now I can make the following observations:

                1) This is by far the best team Lambo has put on the floor. They are quick, talented, smart and deep. They aren't ready to compete with the Penn States and Nebraskas of the volleyball world, but outside the top, let's say, 6 or 8 programs they are as good as anyone.

                2) I've been singing the praises of of Mary Elizabeth Hooper for almost 2 years now to anyone that would listen.....I've been wrong the whole time. She is BETTER than I said she was going to be. I've said it before but it bears repeating 1 last time....Abbey Harsh was great and I love what she did for WSU but MEH is an immediate upgrade.

                3) Our blocking is light years beyond what I ever remember seeing from a Shocker team...they are so much more complicated in their schemes than in previous years.....MEH just allows them to do so many things.

                4) Sarah McGee and Katie Niggemeyer, on their games, are really really good. If Stephanie Tokarz can play, I don't know who sits......that is a LOT of talent and depth in the middle.

                5) Sarah Waldorf is a winner.....oh yeah she's good too. Hopefully she will learn everything from Kelly Broussard and take over her spot next year.

                6) Our schedule is going to hamper this teams development over the next few months.....and that is too bad. The short games are either going to keep Lambo from developing depth or keep him from getting the team to gel because they aren't on the floor enough....there are going to be some really quick matches. We'll beat Indiana State in about 35 minutes.....if they burn their timeouts.

                7) I have looked at the schedule many times....I am sure someone is going to beat them....but I don't know who that someone is.....if they remain healthy, this team is more than capable of going to the NCAAs 32-0.

There were more WSU fans at this afternoon's game than all other players and fans combined.

As it was all weekend. McCasland is about a stones throw away from Gaylord Memorial Stadium....there should have been 2000 OU students there.....but no....

Just another example of the great fans WSU has.

By the way.......perhaps the worst bathroom of all time at McCasland. Upstairs, in the corner.....about 250 degrees and little worked....I'd say last cleaned pre 2000 and last update pre 1960.

If you replace degrees with pounds, that is a pretty good description of the average Sooner fan as well. ;-)

                      Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
