Nothing stunning here. Hooper and Loganbill added along with East Carolina transfer Peyton Thompson. Last season reserves Kristi Mouser, Taylor Keyes and Haley Schrag are no longer listed. Best of luck to these ladies where ever they may end up even if it's still at WSU and just not playing volleyball.

On a side note, it was great to see the best player in Shocker volleyball history at the baseball game last night. Sara Lungren was in Stillwater and as usual radiated her awesomeness for all in attendance.

Read on the internet that Jackie Church 5-10 outside hitter from Kansas City Bishop Miege had committed to WSU. Does anyone know about this

      Good find, wu! :good:

If Lamb wanted her I'm sure she's solid. Would she have to have a great vertical to be effective as a D-1 OH at 5'10"?

I did find a link to her club team's site. It has her as committed to WSU.

Of particular interest is this blurb:

CONGRATULATIONS to Jackie Church. Jackie has been awarded a 1st Team Selection to the 2008 Prepvolleyball/Patella Digs Defensive Lions Team. This award recognizes the top Club/High School Defensive Players in the Country. Way to go Jackie!!!
        Sounds like a great player!

I should finish my research before posting. Oh well.

She was 2nd team all-state in 5A last year. Probably the third-best player on her team. So I would say she is a solid player, but maybe not great. Perhaps she'll be a classic Lamb player. Briing her in, redshirt, rebuild her game and turn her into all-MVC!

I suspect she isn't on the roster yet because she isn't enrolled. Hooper and Loganbill both arrived this past winter, IIRC.

Now that our baseball season is over, the next season of WSU sports is volleyball (+ cross country, etc.). I encourage all WSU supporters to attend volleyball matches next fall.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Well. given her height and the fact that she made a national defensive player 1st team I wonder if she is going to be an outside hitter at the college level.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that she might play libero. She would be on the tall side for a libero, but if prepvolleyball has her that highly rated as a defensive player, she could be a force. Kelly is a senior, and Melissa is a junior, so getting another high caliber defensive player certainly makes sense.

I also heard we are getting the Kansas 4A player of the year from a Topeka school. Looks like we have a good start at loading our guns after this wave of great players graduates. Several excellent young hitters, new young libero, new setter. We are loading up, the Valley schools must be wondering what they need to do to even compete with us.

                  Would that be Corinne Stringer?

Sorry for the bad lead. Based on this note below from another Board - looked like she was coming here. But KU gives her the chance to play in the next year or two. I don't think she would see the court at WSU untill a year or two down the road.

From what my daughter is telling me, and they will be playing together at the Junior Oympics tournament at the end of June- is that Corrine decided to go to Wichita State. I was talking with her at the regional tournament and she said I believe she was going to walk on the first year and then go on scolorship after that. Well, glad she has made her decision and hope it works out for her.

According to the Eagle, Valeen Finney is transfering to Pitt State. That is a very good school and has a top notch volleyball program. I think they are usually top 20 for Div II schools. She will get on the court there and do well. Good luck Val!

I'm not sure Valeen was going to ever break into the starting lineup at WSU. Some VB parents told me Valeen was thinking of transferring back in December.
