08 MVC Championship Tournament in Wichita

The Valley announced today:

VOLLEYBALL: The 2008 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference volleyball championship is in Wichita, Kan., on Nov. 27-29. Wichita State is the host. The tournament, awarded to Wichita State on a bid basis at last year’s spring meeting, will be held on Thanksgiving weekend, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Last year, for the first time in league history, four Valley volleyball teams represented the league in the NCAA Championships, Northern Iowa won the league tournament title in 2007 and was joined by tournament runner-up Illinois State, regular-season champ Wichita State, and Missouri State in the NCAA Tournament. Also, the 2009 State Farm MVC Volleyball Championship was awarded to Creighton.

Very good news for our Shocks who will be one of the biggest, strongest, smartest volleyball teams in the Mid-West. If Lambo keeps his top 12 players healthy Shocks should be in the top 20 and set new attendance records.

And I agree with Sub. If they play like they have, the MVC will have to reconsider Creighton's award due to monetary reasons. There probably is a good chance of them actually making money off of this thing (I don't know if they do or not, guessing not)with it being held in Wichita. Big crowds are always good for these types of things, and WSU and possibly UNI are the only places that can offer them consistently.

Let's get WSU into the top 5 in average VB attendance in 2009. Buy your season tickets early. Buy two; I do. Buy three or four.

When can you start buying season tix? I know my brother told his girls they'd get season tix when they were available but they're not sure when they can buy them.

Not to discourage anyone from buying tickets, because frankly I think everyone here should buy at least one whether you want to attend or not but just to be supportive, but I will have 6 again this year and I'm happy to help out others when they are available, whether just to be a good guy or maybe on a trivia question or something.

Anyways, if you haven't taken in a game, and promise to buy a ticket for the next game if you enjoy the game more than you thought, then let me know and I'll set you up.

More or less. The three basketball games are played on Thurday, Friday and Sunday I believe.

The VB Tournament is held over two days on Friday and Saturday.

So the only possible conflict will be on Friday, depending on when the BB game is scheduled.

Doc, I plan to renew my 4 season tickets. Looking forward to a great season to lead off the Shockers effort to recapture the All-Sports Trophy next year.

I've been asking Shocker fans at the MVC tourney if they go to or plan to go to VB matches. A lot of them do or are thinking about going. We need to promote VB and reach a new record for season tickets sold and attendance. I'll double the number of season tickets I buy for the 2008 season. How about you?
