The Shocks (16-7, 9-3) move into the final 1/3rd of the Valley season taking on a bit of water as the travel to Bradley (7-17, 2-11) and Loyola (12-14, 7-6) for a pair of 7:00 pm games on Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Shocks simply can not afford to slip up against either of these teams if they want to preserve their chances of winning the Valley and securing an NCAA at-large bid.
Obviously goal #1 is to just win the matches. However, goal #2 has to be to play significantly better than they have been playing over the past 3 matches.
Glad we get Bradley first. However, atypically Missouri State also gets Bradley first playing them on Saturday and playing Loyola on Sunday. Normal Valley schedule would have NSU playing Loyola Friday night. So any scheduling advantage WSU may have received from a normal schedule is out the wind. In fact, this scheduling probably favors MSU.
Loyola, who likes like they may well secure the 6th and final spot on the Valley post-season tournament this year, has been kind of up and down. They have a swept the SIU season series in two 4 set matches. They took UNI to 5 sets at home. However, in their last math they struggled a bit at 1-12 Evansville winning in 5 sets.
Loyola has some very good players lead by a pair of 6-1 outside hitters in Sr. Morgan Reardon (3.5 kills per set) and So. Gabi Maciagowski (3.28 kills per set).
The Bradley game is on ESPN3 but the Loyola game is not.
