Mike just spoke of a 14-10 Shocker lead (at one point) that LS never showed - they have 13-10 that moved to 13-11.

Mike was right and Live Stats were wrong but UNI still wins. Sounds like UNI played very well and simply outplayed the Shocks.

Lambo still not totally satisfied with the play of his defensive specialists and clearly thought UNI's superior defensive play was the main difference in the match.

Loyola upset SIU 3-1 in Chicago and Drake is in a 5th set against MSU in Des Moines.

MSU wins the deciding 5th set 15-10.

Post-game comments

UNI got "lots of breaks" (tooling blocks, great digs) which is what they do. Coach Petersen admitted as much (the "lots of breaks" part) in the post-game handshake with Lambo.

Their littles are about five years ahead of us. (Boy, does that ever sound like a statement of frustration!) Specifically, he called out Gabi and Hannah, noting that he took the red-shirt off Kara Bown in an attempt to get better defense. He hated to put names out there, but he is looking for defenders.

We are a physical team that can outhit a lot of teams, but when the opposition gets lots of digs, we lose the defensive battle. (Something to that effect.)

He noted that Emily, Abbie and Jody had very nice matches, especially Jody with her playing back-to-back nights for the first time on her nicked-up ankle.

Losing to UNI in Cedar Falls in not all that surprising and certainly not a critical blow to the Shocks.

4 losses may very well win the conference this year.

pretty much the only place you can't see one scoreboard or another in the arena is the restrooms....
but livestats being wrong doesn't surprise me

Sitting at 1-3 in MVC play (their worst start since the MVC started sponsoring womens sports in '92), UNI had their backs against the wall and finally strung together enough good plays (and got some breaks) to pull off a win.

WSU has some great players. They just didn't get the breaks tonight (plus UNI had some crazy good/lucky defensive plays, if I may say so).

No ESPN3 for tonights Volleyball match. I guess all the equipment is at the UNI-Dome for their football game with SIU.

and I think UNI's control-room setup can only handle one event at a time.

stopped in to Cedar Falls to watch this one on the way back home. They had some cameras that looked like production cameras filming the game, saw three of them. I would have volunteered to do the play by play...ugly but you can always listen to Mike.
This was probably the worse I have ever seen our littles play. Jody was the only passer we had but they quit serving to her, wonder what pct. of kills came from her passes? By the way the ankle looked healthy, UNI really had trouble with her and Abby. Wish she could of gotten a dozen or more attempts.
If we could have passed and dug just a normal game we would have won this in three. Credit to UNI though, they played like a desperate team.

By the way the football game was fun. Packed house and great atmosphere. Tickets were $40, think Shocker fans would pay that?
