Colorado State Rams Volleyball Classic - Sept 8, 10 and 11

The audio stream did very well today after an initial outage early in the match but now it just went off again just as Mike was beginning his post-game interview of Lambo.

Got it back with a reboot. Lambo seemed pleased with the hitting efficiency and thought the play of the littles was better today specifically mentioning Hanna Shelton.

He said he wanted his team to play well, take care of their business and move forward today and he said mission accomplished.

Said next week in San Antonio will be another good challenge and said the UTSA in particular was playing well. Texas Tech is 9-2 although not against a strong schedule overall and Texas State is athletic.

In response to Mike, Hannah had a better day. Lambo thinks she is capable of more than Hannah thinks she is capable of. [NOTE: My phrasing, not his comment.] Maybe the coaches need to encourage her more, but she needs to get out there and show some more leadership and throw her body around also.

The outside hitters did well with nobody having more than two errors. They need to get some more swings for Katy.

Next weekend in San Antonio will be a tough tournament with UTSA being the major "RPI school" of UTSA, Texas Tech and Texas State.

All-Tournament Honors
Junior setter Emily Hiebert and senior outside hitter Jody Larson
earned all-tournament team honors at the Rams Volleyball
Classic over the weekend. The tournament consisted of just
the matches against Colorado State and Texas. In those two
matches, Hiebert averaged 12.00 assists, 1.43 kills, 0.29 aces,
3.00 digs and 0.71 blocks per set, while hitting .471. Larson
averaged 4.86 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.57 blocks per set, while hitting .354.


Tabitha Brown
Sophomore outside hitter Tabitha Brown, who transferred from Alabama, has put
up impressive numbers over her last five matches as a Shocker. She is averaging
2.94 kills, 0.38 aces, 1.62 digs and 0.50 blocks per set, while hitting .302 on the
left side. During that stretch, she had double-digit kills twice, hit over .400 twice
and had a service ace in three of the five matches.

Double-Digits

Senior outside hitter Jody Larson has posted double-digit kills in six of eight matches
this season and double-digit digs in three of eight matches. She has tied her career-
high with 19 kills twice this year, against No. 18 Creighton and against No. 3 Texas

Could not understand Lambo very well. At 6:43 took a commercial break.

Mike asked about what they were doing that was allowing them to improve the offensive efficiency. Hitting .364 as team with almost a .500 kill % since the IUPUI match. Again could not understand Lambo very well.

Came back after the commercial break. Mike got "Welcome back to the show" and they lost the audio again. SMH.

All 3 of the matches in San Antonio next week will be hotly contested especially the UTSA match. Texas Tech and Texas State are the other two opponents.

9:00 am match Friday morning against Texas State is different. Shocks plays Texas State at 3:00 pm Friday. UTSA is at noon on Saturday. So the Shocks will play these 3 matches in abut a 17 hour time period.

A lot of the Shocker Volleyball players work out at 7:00 am so he isn't that worried about the early start on Friday.

We had this discussion last season if Danny or Jenny was better, found out later if you go by the stats Jody was the best passer. Nice problem to have.

Something to think about....where would we be without our two latest transfers?

You can throw the Wildcats into this mix as well. K-State is hosting a midweek match right now against Creighton, up 2-1 right now.

God forbid they play the Shockers in the regular season...not doing so since 2007, I believe.
