  • Shockers 3 - Sycamores 1 in Hard Fought Match

Lambo said in the pre-match scouting report that his was the best Indiana State team he had seen during his time at WSU and that they would be tough. He certainly was right about that.

Indiana State jumped out to a 14-7 lead in Set 1 with a 7-1 run which no doubt boosted their confidence that they could play with the Shocks. The Sycamore went on to win that set 25-22.

In Set 2 the Sycamores took a 10-7 lead before the Shocks pulled back into a tie at 11-all. The teams pretty much traded points with Indiana State holding a 23-22 lead before the Shockers ran off the final 3 points including 2 kills by Jody Larson to win Set 2 by a 25-22 score.

The Shocks were making a lot of errors and were probably lucky to be tied at 1-1 at that point.

The 3rd set was tied at 10-all after an attack error by Abbie with the high error rate continuing. Then somebody must have found the light switch as the Shocks cleaned up their act and pulled away for a 25-18 win.

That clean play continued in to Set 4 with a couple of exceptions and the Shocks closed out a tough, hard fought match with a 25-22 win in Set 4.

I thought the play of Mikaela Raudsepp was very important in the Shocks getting it going especially her blocking as she had to solo blocks and 2 block assists all in the last 2 sets I believe.

Emily and Abbie also picked up their games in Sets 3 and 4.

Good crowd for a Friday night match at 2,489.
