  • Non Conference Opponents

I'll keep the best list I can so we have a reference on how our RPI could stack up and get some idea of a scouting report. I'll do my best to keep the most CURRENT ranking of an opponent but I won't change the rankings of their opponents. Feel free to post updates or corrections and I'll update when I can.

Illinois's games are all home games for them this weekend.

Ummm......New Mexico State leads #16 Arizona State 1-0 and up 7-2 in the 2nd.

Now I don't know....The stat feed may be completely reversed. I'm going to try a different way.

That score is right. NMSU is closing in on a 2-0 lead. ASU is out of timeouts and trails 18-12 but they are on a 3-1 run after trailing 17-9.

Well I spoke way too soon. ASU roared back to take set 2. 1 set each.

ASU won set 3, NMSU set 4 and then ASU held on 15-7 in the 5th.

A&M garnered several more votes in today's poll. We really didn't, basically jumping Oregon State and Minnesota while Western Kentucky jumps all the way in at #17 on the heels of beating Wisconsin.

A&M are 27, Marquette are 28 and the Shockers are 38 with Oregon State being the last of the RV at 40. Last week, the Shockers were 39 out of 42 RV, A&M was 30 and Marquette was not in the RV. As noted above, Marquette swept 21 Iowa State in Ames to make their big jump.

            A few early takes:

South Dakota State has yet to win a set.

UK with a (somewhat) surprising loss at home to a very good Ohio team.

Illinois continues it's brutal schedule unscathed so far and Marquette has been very impressive.

Good Valley matchups with Kentucky @ UNI, Marquette @ Missouri State & Albany @ Indiana State. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Updated as best as I can.

Not really getting any RPI help from SDSU and ACU who are a combined 1-24 against less than stellar competition.

OSU has yet to win a single match against decent competition.

I hate to admit it, but it's clear NMSU deserves votes a lot more than we do.

Hawaii may not lose again until the tournament, but they've been sloppy at times so don't bet on it.

It's hard to figure out TA&M. Fantastic one minute, wildly average the next.

If we could have converted one of the 5 match points against NMSU I'd feel great about a potential at large. MSU, ISU and UNI are all going to have decent RPIs so we won't get killed in conference. As it is, I don't think we have a ton of room.

As it is, IF we can get 2 wins today I think we'll need at least 15-3 to feel solid about an at large. Tough to do.
