  • Around the Valley 2015

Maybe we'll keep everything in one thread for awhile? Just an idea.

Loyola is hosting a tourney this weekend and is paying New Hampshire right now on ESPN3.

The Ramblers are leading 2-1 in a very tight match but trail early in the 4th.

It wasn't a bad UNH team, a team looking to 3 peat in their conference, but Loyola should be stronger than they showed. Could easily be first match jitters as well. Not surprisingly, the Ramblers made Jr. OH and Valley stud Morgan Reardon do most of the heavy lifting. She had 20 kills on 45 swings hitting .333 and tossed in 12 digs just for good measure.

                UNI beat UC-Davis 3-1 (28-18 25-27 29-27 25-21) with both teams playing a number of true freshmen.

The MVC is currently 9-1 on the season so far (Bradley over Toledo, SIU over Delaware, Drake over DePaul, Loyola over UNH, Bradley over YSU, Evansville over Tn Tech, MSU over Furman, UNI over UC-Davis, Drake over SIU-E. With the only loss being Indiana State falling to Marshall)

Nice solid win for the Panthers. UC Davis was picked 5th in the competitive Big West but after Hawaii (who is going to be great) and maybe LBSU, anything is possible.

Not the greatest 9-1 you'll ever see, but it's a damned site better than losing.

Make it 9-2 as Miami, to no one's surprise, handled Illinois State fairly easily 23, 19, 17 hitting .385 for the match. That's strong.

                  Make it 10-2 as Indiana State beat Canisius 25-19, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18

Wake destroyed Loyola 25-15 in set 1.

Loyola was more competitive in set 2 but not good enough. Going to have to come back from down 0-2.

Loyola was handled by Wake....pretty disappointing considering Wake was picked 15th out of 15 ACC teams in the preseason poll.

                        25-15, 25-23, 25-16.

I guess Indiana State had another match today against Canisius that I didn't have on my list, which they won 3-1.
So on the day, the Valley went 11-3 with two of the three losses coming to ACC teams.

Kstate and ISU in a thriller....I guess. Tied at 15 in the 5th. KState has blown 4 match points.

Serving on their 5th match point. Another blown. 16 all

Point KState, match point #6. 17-16

                            Point ISU 17 all.

Point KState 18-17. Match point #7

                            Point KState 19-17

Hate to lose in state players but being from Silver Lake it's expected she'd land at KSU. She was a difference maker today.

Wake Forest turned around and was boatraced by New Hampshire. Go figure.
