  • 2014 Volleyball Attendance

To date, we are doing well in attendance for volleyball this season. It would be good to end the season in the top 10. We also are not that far from the school record in average attendance. Here is the latest from goshockers.com

    WSU Eighth in Attendance
Wichita State is ranked eighth nationally in attendance as of Oct. 13. The Shockers are averaging 3,042 fans per match. Nebraska is first and averages 8,350 fans per match.

WSU is currently 8th in the nation in attendance. Let's get out and support the Shockers this weekend at the Friday (Loyola) and Saturday (Bradley) matches.

I am not expecting good crowds this weekend for two reasons. Loyola and Bradley are not particularly strong draws and, more importantly, the Shocks are smack dab up against the World Series both nights.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking we will do well to draw 1,500 to each of these two matches. Anything over that will be a strong showing.

BTW, Friday is also high school football with district play now in progress. Andover plays Kapaun tonight at Cessna Stadium so parking will be impacted somewhat. Hopefully, they control the season ticket parking better tonight than they did for the VB home opener.

Attendance tonight was 2500. That is well below the season average of 3,042, but not too bad considering Royals WS and HS football.

I want to encourage anyone that is willing to break away from the WS for a little bit on Saturday evening to go to the Shocker volleyball game.

Every day is a great day to be a Shocker!

Attendance tonight was 2134. That's not bad considering KC in the World Series for first time in 25 years. Despite it being the smallest crowd of the season, I thought it had pretty good energy.

Looks like we have a Volleyball-Men's Basketball doubleheader on Friday, November 14th. The Volleyball team takes on Evansville at 5:00 pm with the Men's Basketball team hosting New Mexico State at 8:00 pm. Hopefully, the Lady Shocks can dispatch Evansville in 3 sets. A 5-set match could really cause a headache with the parking situation. Probably good the VB team is playing Evansville on Friday and SIU on Saturday as SIU could very well extend the Shocks to 5 sets.

The negative thing for the Lady Shocks is that I would anticipate that this will hurt the attendance for that Evansville match more than a little. We need to make this up to Lambo and his Ladies by showing up in huge numbers on Friday, November 7th for the big Missouri State volleyball match.

Hard to say. A lot going on in Shocker sports this weekend. The Men's Basketball team plays their season opener against New Mexico State on Friday causing the VB match with Evansville to be moved up to 5:00 pm.

On Saturday the Women's Basketball team opens their season against Creighton at 2:00 pm with the SIU VB match scheduled for 7:00 pm. We also are supposed to get a few inches of snow on Saturday.

That all would seem to conspire against drawing good crowds for our final 2 home matches. But we will see.

Attendance tonight was 3321. I did not know what to expect for tonight, but we exceeded our season average. One more home game on Saturday night to solidify our spot in top 10 for average attendance this season.
