Perhaps home opener nerves were an issue.

Lamb saw what he called funky contact, suggesting uncomfortable swings. Assistant coach Sean Carter blamed nerves.

“I watched balls come off of our hands that look nothing like what I see in practice,” Lamb said. “I didn’t see my team out there.”

This is a young team and nerves definitely could have been a factor last night. I would not be surprised if we see a totally different team tonight. There are going to be lots of ups and downs this season. We just need to stick with them, because I think this will be a team that will come together as the season progresses.

Something else that I noticed that was something completely different than normal was a lack of energy from the bench. I feel like the girls usually are pretty good about getting the energy up in that regard, but seemed to be lacking last night. Part of that may have been the crowd, which also didn't seem to get too into the match.

All in all, I hope they play much better tonight and some stronger, more vocal leadership comes out tonight as well as an excited group of fans. With a young team, playing in front of a lively crowd could help provide a boost.
