    From Today's Eagle:

Volleyball fans may get a chance to check out the progress of the Shockers, and newcomers Mary Elizabeth Hooper and Dana Loganbill, this spring. Hooper and Loganbill are freshmen who graduated from high school early in order to enroll at WSU and play this spring.

On April 5, WSU will hold a tournament with perhaps as many as eight teams in the Koch Arena practice gym. None of the other schools has committed, but Oklahoma, Arizona and Tulsa are among the possibilities.

WSU assistant Shannon Lamb cautions fans that spring volleyball is an experimental time when lineups change and winning is not important.

"You're trying to develop your team in the spring," she said.

The main arena will not be available that weekend because of refinishing work on the floor. WSU may bring bleachers into the practice gym to accommodate fans.

The Shockers are likely to travel in late March, destination to be determined. On April 12, WSU will play in a 24-team tournament in Houston.

The NCAA allows four play dates, which leaves WSU room for another tournament or a scrimmage.
