Thanks @The Mad Hatter: for finishing those up. Looks like a 10-2 day for the MVC but no real signature wins. Half of the matches went 5 sets.

SIU with perhaps the most exciting match of the day.

No need to start a new thread, but other scores of interest (to me at least):

As mentioned earlier, the Rainbow Wahine beat Texas on the Island 3-1. Yes, the 'Horns were sloppy and UH had about 9k in support (yes, I am calling out all Shocker fans reading this) but they are really really good.

Creighton easily dispatched #16 BYU in 4. Our home tourney is going to be fantastic. Get ready.

The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears surprised Kansas last night in Arizona. UCA is more than formidable.

Hawaii Wahine Volleyball and their fan support is simply amazing.

not the best of mornings for the MVC.
                WSU swept by ASU
UNI loses to Utah State 1-3
MSU swept by Tulsa (though two of the sets went extra points)
UE loses in 5 to Hampton
INS loses in 5 to Akron
Drake is currently trailing Idaho 1-2
                though Loyola did sweep Marist

As @JayJ79: noted not a good morning for the Valley and a the day ended up 7-10. MSU did pick up the best win of the season so far with a solid 3-1 win over #22 Dayton.

Hey now, just cuz UNI has a bad day, doesn't mean they get kicked out of the MVC. ;op (I'm guessing you copied the results from the MVC website, which for some reason has UNI's matches against Utah State and Utah as being listed for 9/1 instead of 8/31)
And they listed the Illinois State win over FGCU twice instead of including ILS's loss to VCU.

So the Valley went 6-13 on the day.

                    VCU 3, Illinois State 1 (25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 21-25)
                    Utah State 3, UNI 1 (18-25, 25-9, 19-25, 23-25)
                    Utah 3, UNI 1 (25-17, 19-25, 18-25, 18-25)

MSU defeated normally competitive Northern Illinois 3-1 on Monday in DeKalb. (22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-23)

UNI gave #11 Iowa State a scare on Wednesday in Cedar Falls losing in 5 after winning the first two sets. (25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 15-9)

UNI also fell in 5 sets this afternoon to Wisconsin at North Dakota State's tournament in Fargo this time losing the first two sets. (25-27, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-9)

UNI has played pretty competitively against good competition. I have a feeling the Panthers will be plenty tough come conference play. Up next for the Panthers is #17 Louisville tomorrow morning in Fargo. I wonder how North Dakota State was able to draw Wisconsin and Louisville to Fargo?

maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I think you have it backwards.
on Wednesday, UNI lost the first two sets to ISU (got steamrolled in the first, more accurately), then won the next two, before losing in the 5th, all in front of a crowd of 6621 fans.

Then they made the long-arse bus ride to Fargo (I've made the drive before, it sucks), and taking on Wisconsin in a gym with no AC and temps in the mid 90s, without any practice time in between. They come out and win the first two sets, but then drop the next three.

Corrected. Great crowd. Wished we could get KSU or KU to play us during the regular season, but they don't seem so inclined to want to do that.

UNI up 2-0 over #17 Louisville 25-20 and 26-24 in Fargo.

UNI 25-19 in Set 3 to complete a sweep of Louisville and pick up a very nice win.

Eryca Hintgen, a RS Jr who was hitting 0.121 on the season coming into the match had what I assume to be by far her best career effort hitting 0.733 with 12 kills and only 1 error on 15 attacks.

UNI with an outstanding defensive effort holding Louisville to .091 hitting for the match.

That's an impressive win for them.
